Buried in Books! #7

Well, maybe not buried! When my mom came to visit me this weekend, and she asked what she should do with the extra room in her suitcase, I told her books! She only brought me one book though, so between that and the audiobook I got from the library, I borrowed two books this week :D.

Borrowed:

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor Rule 34 by Charles Stross

Since I finished up my previous audiobook this past week (Fire by Kristin Cashore), I needed to get a new one! I generally head straight to the “Youth Audio” section, since that’s where the YA audiobooks are, and YA make for wonderful audiobooks generally. I was tempted to get Graceling, but it was a different narrator, and I liked the narrator for Fire too much to switch. Instead, Daughter of Smoke and Bone caught my eye since I’ve been seeing a lot of reviews for it around the blogosphere! I didn’t realize it had a contemporary setting, but I’m excited to see where it goes :D.

Also, my mom has been reading some Charles Stross recently and decided that I might like Rule 34, so she brought it along for me when she visited! I don’t know when I’m going to have time to read it, but it looks like a really fun computer nerd novel! It’s also apparently a loose sequel, so that could get interesting. Anyone know how reliant it is on Halting State?

Did you get any new books this week?? Heard anything about the ones I got? Tell meeeeeeee! I live for comments *twitches* :D.

Remember to subscribe for reviews of awesome books!

  1. Weeee Daughter of Smoke & Bone! I hope you LOVE it as much as I did. I’ve never heard of Rule 34 but I’m off to check it out! Oh and I’m glad you enjoyed Fire, I just got Graceling a few weeks ago and even though it’s a different narrator it still makes me excited to hear that Fire is really good :D Thanks for sharing, my StS & enjoy your goodies!!

    • Did you get Graceling on audio?? I’m excited to hear what you think of it? I’m planning on borrowing the paperback from a friend to read soon :D

  2. YES. I’m not sure if I’m more excited that you were able to listen/finish Fire or that you got Daughter of Smoke and Bone, which was hands down my favorite read of 2011. I hope you enjoy it just as much as I did. Or more. Either would be good. :D
