2014 Review Pile Reading Challenge

2014 Review Pile Reading Challenge!

So this year I kind of decided to abandon the challenges I had started, mostly because I am so swamped with review books and honestly most excited and motivated to read my review books! There is just something so satisfying about checking off books for review and for some reason it’s better when there is a deadline? I’m strange I know… >.>. Anyway, when I spotted the 2014 Review Reading Challenge, I was quite convinced that this is the challenge for me! Since I would be doing this anyway and it’s just more motivation :D.

Hopefully I’ll have a fair number of these marked off before 2014 starts, so I’ll remove them if that happens, but at the moment these are the review books I’m aiming for in 2014. Beyond just the ones coming out in 2014, I have a couple of really old review books that I am determined to finish in 2014. That’s really my stretch goal: completely catch up on overdue review books!

2014 Releases

Into the Dark    Dark Eden A Creature of Moonlight Magic Breaks Night Broken

I have most of these already, Kate and Mercy I’ve just gotten confirmation that I’m on the list so *crosses fingers* ;-). Everything else I have actually downloaded and so definitely need to read and review.

Pre-approved Temptation

Then there are the HarperCollins temptations on EdelWeiss and I’m planning to fit in if I can:

Perfect Lies Panic The Taking

So with those plus what I’ve already added to the pile since making this post, that puts me at Journeyman level (11-20) though I’m sure there will be plenty added throughout the year! I’ll start at Journey(wo)man with the assumption that I’ll bump up inevitably because I read 100 books so far this year and over half were review books, haha.

Progress

January:

  1. Two – not recorded yet
  2. Cruel Beauty – not recorded yet
  3. Poison Dance – not recorded yet
  4. Black Dog – not recorded yet
  5. Burn Bright – not recorded yet

Are you joining in The Review Pile Reading Challenge for 2014? How many review books do you have in your pile??

  1. I am really tempted to do this, since I’d basically be doing it anyway. I have a horrible track record with challenges, though… I also want to catch up on some overdue books. Gah. Watch, I’ll probably have a post about this in a day or two.

    Good luck!

  2. Haha, I am sure you will go way beyond “journey(wo)man” by the time 2014 is done! I have a feeling Edelweiss and NetGalley will be getting a workout this year. Especially with those preapproved Harper titles. SO TEMPTING OMG.

Speaking of Harper titles, I am sooo excited to read Uninvited! I’ve heard amazing things about that one already. And Panic is up next for me as soon as I finish Avalon! *reads like the wind*

    • You know me so well ;-) I figure I’ll start small just in case something happens though, hehe. Oo, you’re having quite the sci-fi kick, yey!

  3. I tried to read Into the Dark. The first pages pissed me off. Good luck!

  4. Only just launched the “book blog” (which is more of a GR review backup slowly growing into a blog), so no advanced review copies for me. Though I will happily take them off the hands of anyone running short on time. ;)

I’m avoiding asking for any review books this year. With the new baby coming, I don’t want to make any commitments. Good luck with this challenge! If you read a lot of review books, it should be perfect for you.

    • Oo, that’s a good idea. I keep going through request phases where I won’t request for months and then I’ll request a bunch all at once *sigh* I need to work on that ;-) Good luck with the baby :D

  6. I’m also participating in this challenge (I’m a challenge addict, haha) Panic wasn’t such a success for me, but I liked Death sworn and I can’t wait for Cruel beauty and Lady thief <3 Good luck!

    • Oo, good to know. I’m so hopeful for Death Sworn being another big fantasy book of the year, so I need to hear good things :D

Gah! I really wish I had time to be a book blogger. Well, I think I have the time, but I’d be late reading and reviewing books. Especially, if I promised to review by a certain date.

Those are some pretty awesome books, by the looks of them. See, that’s why I started following book blogs earlier this year. I wanted to keep up with books that are coming out by “well known” authors and authors that I know nothing about. It’s working out great because I’ve read some pretty amazing books this year, that I don’t think I would’ve bought if I just browsed online or walked into a bookstore.

So, maybe, I should just keep following for now. LOL! Anyways, I think I only have one of your books from above. NIL is currently on my TBR list. I’m still going by that list so I know that it’ll be read pretty soon. First up in 2014 is……….. Legend! Yep, I decided that will be the very first read of the new year. I’m excited to read it finally. I just started Unravel Me (Shatter Me #2) last night. I’m hoping to finish it today and maybe I can squeeze a few more in before the year ends.

You and yours have a Merry Christmas! Be safe and blessed! All I asked for are books this year for Christmas. I’m hoping everyone just gets me books. That’s all I want!!

    • Hehe, you can totally just review books as you feel like as well though :D That’s one of my favorite things about following the blogging community as well since otherwise I never would be able to keep track of all these new releases!

Woot Legend :D I’ve read that one and still really need to finish the trilogy, but I hear it keeps getting better :D

Hehe, I got books (just got to my parents’ place and we haven’t had our present-opening yet, delayed gratification, haha) and giftcards so I can buy more books :D I hope you had a great holidays!!!
