A to Z Bookish Survey

Yup, I’m joining in with Jamie’s awesome lists! So time for you to get to know me a bit better :D

Author you’ve read the most books from:

Amusingly this is a tie between Brandon Sanderson and Patricia Briggs, which I am quite content with. I think Patricia Briggs might win out if I had recorded all of her books that I’ve read, but according to Goodreads they are 12 and 12.

Best Sequel Ever:

Crap, Jamie stole Through the Ever Night ;-). Ummm… well, I enjoyed River Road much more than Royal Street, so I’ll go with that, though I’m hesitant about the “ever” ;-).

Currently Reading:

Bitter Kingdom <3

Drink of Choice While Reading:

Water! I’m boring, I know, but I pretty much always have my water bottle with me when reading.

E-reader or physical book?

Depends :D. If I’m at the gym or in a weird position or place then my Kindle saves the day. But I love the progress I can see with physical books and seeing them on my actual shelf!

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School:

Hmmm…. This is a tough one for me. I’m going to go with Jesse from The Sweetest Dark since I got all swoony reading that one.

Glad You Gave this Book a Chance:

Destiny Binds by Tammy Blackwell. I wouldn’t have found it if Tammy hadn’t handed me a copy and I freaking love that trilogy!

Hidden Gem Book:

Crap, I keep using books a letter too soon…. And I don’t really want to reuse books! Okay, I’m going with Of Poseidon since I think a lot of people are skittish of mermaid books, but I quite enjoyed it!

Important Moment in Your Reading Life:

When Angelya mentioned her book blog on her WoW blog. I had been following her druid blog because I was WoW-obsessed. Then I discovered this whole world of book blogging and started my blog back up :D. This counts because blogging has encouraged me to up my reading and expand my reading hard core.

Just Finished:

Crown of Embers! Though this is a hard one for me since I’m in the middle of several longer books and have been for a while D:

Kind of Books You Won’t Read:

I’m just not that interested in genres that don’t have some sort of magical/sci-fi element. I’ve tried reading a couple but I keep thinking “A dragon would make this so much cooler” >.>

Longest Book I’ve Read:

According to Goodreads, The Wiseman’s Fear though it says it is 900 pages?? That seems off to me >.>.

Major Book Hangover Because Of:

I don’t get book hangover much, so I doubt mine would count as major, but Mockingjay took some time to digest!

Number of Bookcases You Own:

Four. Two are normal large size, one is medium sized and one at my boyfriend’s (I suppose he owns it technically, but it has my books!) which is mini. We’re working on getting more shelf space for me at his place, hehe. There are a lot of piles of books unfortunately D:

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:

I actually have only read one book multiple times: To Sail Beyond the Sunset by Robert Heinlein.

Preferred Place to Read:

Couch! My couch isn’t as good as my boyfriend’s, but they are both included in this answer.

Quote That Inspires/Gives the Feels:

I’m really bad with quotes, I just never keep track of them. However, this one is seared in, “Not my daughter you bitch!” from our favorite motherly witch :D.

Reading Regret:Throne of Glass

I haven’t read Throne of Glass yet, I’m so sorry D:

Series You Started and Need to Finish:

Enchanted Forest Chronicles. I loved the first two books, they are such fun, so I need to get the last two!

Three of Your All Time Favorite Books:

Name of The Wind, Elantris, and Magic Rises.

Unapologetic Fan Girl For:

Brandon Sanderson, who would have guessed ;-).

Very Excited For This Release:Cress

Worst Bookish Habit:

Accepting/requesting more than I can chew. Especially when I don’t check the page number beforehand *facepalm*. I’m so behind and I don’t like it!

X Marks the Spot: Start At Top Left and Pick the 27th Book on Your Shelf:

The Different Girl. Gah, I wanted to read that and I still haven’t!

Your Latest Book Purchase:

I just got back from GenCon where I purchased several books, but The Adventures of Princess and Mr. Whiffle: The Thing Under the Bed was the last one purchased. It’s a bit strange…. But the proceeds went to charity!

Zzz-snatcher Book:Magic Rises

(ie a book that kept me up) Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews. I missed hours of sleep to finish this because I just couldn’t put it down. It was awesome.

Whew! That was an excellent way to spend a Sunday afternoon (hello everyone from the future :D). Link me up yours if you’ve done the survey :D. Have any funny answers??

  1. Bah! Cress was second for my release answer, but I went with Kinslayer. I am so excited for Cress! I can’t even stand it!

  2. Wooo, I’m so happy you filled out this survey too :D It was fun wasn’t it?! Anyways, I was smiling all though your answers: the Sanderson love, the drinking water, the needing a bit of fantasy elements to enjoy a book! Oh and reading on the couch, that’s my choice spot too heh. I only just read Throne of Glass last week myself so don’t feel too bad…though it was AMAZING and I really think you’d think so too, in some ways Celaena reminds me of Vin from Mistborn (♥)

PS- YAY to that Molly Weasley quote :D

    • Oo, I love me some Vin-like characters :D I definitely need to read it, it’s just so hard to balance older books and ARCs D:

  3. Ooh, this looks fun! I think I might do the same thing on my blog tomorrow; some of the categories look like they could generate some fun discussion. :)

  4. Hehehehe, yay for the Brandon Sanderson love! :D

  5. I also drink water while I read :) You should definitely finish The Enchanted Forest Chronicles! It’s just such a cute series.

  6. Aw, I’m so glad you’ve done so well with your book blog too <3 Wish I still had time to write about wow things :)
You definately need to get onto Throne of Glass, and Crown of Midnight *nodnodnod*

  7. Jenn @ A Glo-Worm Reads says:

You should probably fix your Reading Regret, just saying ;) Throne of Glass was amazing for me. Besides, did you see the awesome map inside?!

    • Oo there’s a map?? My copy is at the boy’s place right now, so I’ll have to investigate next weekend! I am definitely planning to fix that soon, just have to get through a couple more September ARCs!

      • Jenn @ A Glo-Worm Reads says:

There sure is a map! I spent awhile pouring over it when I first got it. I love maps!

        • Yey maps :D I have to admit that I usually skip the map until the characters start traveling, since otherwise I don’t have context to understand what I’m looking at, haha

  8. I’m reading The Bitter Kingdom right now too! So much fun.

Also, I think we mostly all share that bookish habit. SO. MANY. BOOKS. *flails helplessly under mound*

  9. I’m so looking forward to Cress too! Still about half a year to go..
