A Week in Review 2/16/13

A Week in Review

Oof, this week I have been sick sick sick :(. And not in the fun, I’m too sick to go to school so curl up in bed way either. I still have to work because there are immovable deadlines, and my sinuses have given me such a headache so I don’t even feel like reading when it’s finally time to rest, ugh! Serves me right for bragging about my “superior immune system” to my boyfriend the last three times he was sick I suppose ;-).

My Week

Spirit Singer

I fortunately still had plenty of driving (fortunately??) and so finished another audiobook! Spirit Singer ended up being a delightful fantasy, though I never did get used to the narrator’s voice. I think I just don’t like male narrators unfortunately :(. I am now even more ridiculously behind on reviews to write *sigh*. And of course my stuffed up head filled with cold medicine doesn’t really want to cooperate either, hehe.

Catching Fire

I had run off to the library already to grab a back up audiobook though, so once I finished the last one, I was ready with Catching Fire! I know, I know, I’m so late on this trilogy ;-). I had actually originally decided not to finish the trilogy because of my dislike of love triangles, but I’ve since realized that it’s less of a real love triangle and more of a “this evil president is forcing me to marry this one guy, but I actually like this other guy,” which is hardly the same thing ;-). I’m really liking the dystopian element so far, I just hope that Katniss gets a backbone again soon >.> seriously girl!

Cinder

Finally, I got to pick a sick book this week, since being sick means you get to read whatever you want right?? Technically I think I grabbed Cinder before symptoms started when I just couldn’t stand studying anymore, but maybe that was the first symptom! >.> <.< Wow, the cold medicine is really hitting my brain isn’t it? Haha. Anyway, loving Cinder, as expected ;-).

  1. I know I’m really late to the party here (I fell behind in my comments in the last few weeks so I’ve been playing catch up ever since) but I am sorry to hear (read) you were feeling so sick! I hope you are better by now & hopefully you got to rest and do what YOU wanted to do :) I really hope you’ll enjoy Catching Fire – it was definitely my favorite in the series & where I really got into the whole plot. As far as Cinder goes, I’ve been hauling it out lately every time I need to decide what to read next…I’m thinking within a few weeks I’ll dive in – about time too, I may be the only one left o.O Like you, I do think I’ll really like it so I’m eager to read your thoughts on it! Thanks for the link to my review as well, you rock ♥

  2. I hope you’re feeling better, Anya! I can’t wait to see what you think of Cinder. I reviewed it just this week (you can see my review here) if you’re interested.) I’m still waiting for Scarlet to come from the library.

  3. I’m excited to see your review of Cinder; I just finished reading/reviewing Cinder and Scarlet and loved them! :) Feel better soon!

    • I’m excited to finish it! I’m trying to get through a review book before focusing completely on Cinder and Scarlet, but it’s hard, hehe!

  4. Sorry you are feeling ill – especially since it can’t be used as an excuse to sip tea and read the best books!!

  5. So sorry to hear that you have been ill and it is extra tough when you can’t bow out of work.
You most definitely get to read what you want to when you are ill ;)

Thanks for the shout out for my review. I enjoy looking at the other reviews that caught your eye this past week or so.

    • Fortunately my superior immune system seems to be fighting off the bug quickly ;-) Hehe!

Yey, I’m glad the links were fun for you :D
