Best of 2013 Audiobook Blog Hop!

Hey all, it may be 2014 officially now, but that just makes it the perfect time to really decide on my favorite books of 2013 ;-). For this hop, we’re doing audiobooks!

My top three audiobooks that I listened to in 2013 are….

Reboot

Reboot is narrated by my favorite narrator: Khristine Hvam! She also narrated the Laini Taylor books, so I actually bought Reboot to listen to simply because she was the narrator, haha. I wasn’t disappointed!

The Lies of Locke Lamora

I’m not sure what’s up with that cover, but this is the first book of Scott Lynch’s highly acclaimed series on audiobook. The series is narrated by Michael Page and it’s freaking honey for your ears. I loooooooved listening to the first and second books; the voices for each character are hilarious, there is a lot of creative and witty swearing that makes long drives quite entertaining, and even each of the thieves’ personas had their own voice. It’s amazing if you like high fantasy with thieves :D.

Seraphina

Finally, Seraphina was a book that I actually attempted last year and had to take a break from it to listen to Days of Blood and Starlight. Fortunately, I finally got to listening to it this year and loved it! The narration took a little getting used to for me but in the end it was so much fun to listen to; very original fantasy and dragons!

Giveaway!

This hop has an awesome hop-wide giveaway for an Audible membership :D.

  3. Man another 3 books and narrators I’ve never listened to! Going to have to add them to my list! I know what you mean about loving a narrator so much you pick a book just because they’ve narrated it – I did the same thing with Amanda Ronconi and was not disappointed!

  4. My favorite narrator is also Khristine Hvam! I need to listen to Reboot. If you want to listen to something else narrated by her I recommend you Chronicles of Elantra by Michelle Sagara. I have listened to the first two books and they are really good. I’m planing to start third book soon.
I read Seraphina and loved it! The Lies of Lock Lamora sounds like something I would like.
My favorite audiobook in 2013 was A Memory of Light by Robert Jordan.

    • Oo, thanks for the recommendation! Whenever I can’t think of what to use my Audible credits, I just look for what else she’s narrated >.> I’m glad to hear you liked Memory of Light, I got stuck on book three of those but want to get further so that I can read the Brandon Sanderson ones

  5. Wow, what a great giveaway! I’ve read Seraphina already, but I liked it enough that I might be willing to give the audiobook a try too :)

  6. Thank you so much for being part of the hop!
I already have Seraphina on my audio library, and now it’s moving to the top of my TBL. YAY!
Happy listening and very happy New Year!

  7. I loved Seraphina so much & the audio swept me away.

  8. Fab list! I forgot that Hvam performs Reboot- she’s such a great narrator! The Scott Lynch book sounds so intriguing too. Happy new year and happy listening!

Great list! I love the Lies of Locke Lamora – almost picked this for my own list!
    Happy new year! V

  10. Kelli (The Oddiophile) says:

Hmmm, I stalled out on Seraphina and haven’t gotten back to it but based on your comments, I’ll give it another try.

See, this is why I love hops like this: I’d never heard of Reboot but it looks really good and it’s hard to go wrong with Khristine Hvam. I first heard her with Justina Robson’s Quantum Gravity series and she aced it.

    • Oo yes do! Where did you stall out? It definitely has slower moments, which weren’t a problem for me since I was listening to it ;-)

      • I think I was about two hours into it (it’s been a while so I’m guessing there) – her dream (?) people had just started to act unexpectedly. Oh, and I started Reboot yesterday and got far too little sleep last night because I couldn’t stop listening. Excellent recommendation, thank you.

  11. Ha! I guess I should have seen this hop coming with how much you love your audiobooks. ;) Still, many thanks as always for the giveaway and here’s hoping you find many more audiobooks you love in 2014!

  13. Awesome list and I haven’t listened to a darn one :) My TBL just grew!
