Authors-Bloggers Drama

Book Discussion

I generally don’t voice opinions on the more political events that happen in the blogosphere, but I do want to discuss this “authors commenting on reviews” topic a little bit. I’ve seen a lot of bloggers putting up an “Authors Welcome” post. Those posts made me think more thoroughly about how I feel about this blog.

You are totally welcome to comment on a book review to disagree with me, just don’t be a jerk.

I don’t care if you are the author of the book, rabid fan, or just someone who had a different opinion than me. As long as you aren’t a jerk, we’re all good. As long as you are willing to agree to disagree, we’re all good. Sound good? Oh and just so we’re clear, being condescending about anyone’s personal opinions and experiences (including other commenters!) is a jerk move.

And now back to our regularly scheduled program!

  1. Hi Anya,

    Hi,

Would you be interested in being a tour stop for a science fiction/dystopian book? I run a virtual book tour company, and we are needing some extra stops! Basically you sign up for the day you can host, and I email you the book cover, buy links, blurb, author bio, etc. Then you’re added onto the official media schedule for the date you picked. We are also running a giveaway for our tour hosts. I’m including the sign up link below!

  4. I am finding more and awesome authors. I have had only one issue directly with an author, but the love I have seen has really outweighed the negative stuff. I generally believe that they are really great. I always get super nervous when I have something less than stellar to say about a book.

    • I do too! Though I try hard to always have something negative to say about all books reviewed, so I hope that takes the sting out of it >.> I have had some interesting rabid fan comments though, haha

  5. Thanks for this post. I’m a big fan and an author. I’m glad to know I may express myself if I so choose, but I tend to be a little shy. If I ever do decide to leave a comment after this one, I promise not to be a jerk.
