Books with Dragons in Them! (The List)

Books with Dragons in Them

Books with Dragons!

So a while back I hosted a Dragon Booth for the Spring Blog Carnival :D. My challenge was to list your top 5 books with dragons in them and why you liked them. I was thinking after the carnival that I had accidentally made a great resource for my future dragon reading and I want to share that resource with you! 1. A whole list of books about dragons… this is GREAT! I love it!
I recently read A Creature of Moonlight by Rebecca Hahn, which features an interesting and somewhat unconventional dragon… in addition to the protagonist being half-dragon herself. Can’t think of anything else that was missed though – fantastic list!

    • :D Oo, I’ve been meaning to read A Creature of Moonlight, thanks for the reminder, adding it to the list!

  2. I’ve read eight of those (including partial series), mostly from the top of the list.

You missed The Dragon and the George by Gordon R. Dickson, which is highly recommended generally, and for dragon content. The Dragon Knight is also good—surprisingly so for a 14-year-on sequel—he had some new things to say. The third book has typical sequelitis, and I haven’t read past that (yet).

It seems like there really should be a bunch more than that…. Oh, right. Various D&D novels. ^_^

Dragonlance Chronicles, of course. Okay, and the sequel series was better, but I don’t think that had much dragon content.
Spellfire: Dracolich right on the cover. One of the better books.
Azure Bonds: One of the best books. Not a lot of dragon, but has an evil red dragon, that you gain some sympathy for.

And now off to start checking the books I haven’t heard of.

  3. Love dragons you ought to add these two fabulous books to your list by author J.D. Hallowell
Dragon Fate and Dragon Blade. They are totally awesome books

  4. Eeeep, I literally squealed when I saw this post :D What a list! I’ve only managed to read 10 of these (7 being the Septimus Heap books) but I DO own an additional 4 and 1 other one is on my wishlist LOL I didn’t see it listed, but the Draconi Series by Stephanie Constante features dragons! ♥ There’s 2 books ( Baptism of Fire & Incendio) and I really enjoyed them! I love you for posting this list though, honestly and I have like 10 new books to add so thanks!!

    • Haha, yey!! 10 is a great number though! Oo, thank you for the tip, adding it to the list, I remember you reviewing those and added them to my wishlist, gotta read them :D

  5. Jenn @ A Glo-Worm Reads says:

Wow, I’ve only read 5 of these. I love dragons and need to read more books with them! I’m still rereading A Song of Ice and Fire right now, so getting a bit of dragons :)

  6. Wonderful list! I’ll be linking to it in next week’s “News & Notes” (Saturday 6/22/13).

  7. You are the Dragon gal! Awesome list!

    • Haha, that’s my name, don’t wear it out :D Well I guess it isn’t technically my name, a girl can dream ;-)

  8. dragana5kovic says:

    Read 3,4,5,10,12,13,25,29,51. (9 not bad)
My favorite (and first book about dragons I have read) is Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey.
Only ya book about dragons I have read is Seraphina but it was pretty good too.

    • Better than me I’m pretty sure, which makes me want to start reading more immediately, given that I’m supposed to be the dragon obsessed one ;-)

  9. Just added a bunch of these to my TBR. Thanks for posting them! :D

  10. I love that you listed the books everyone suggested.. oh and I loved that booth. One of my favorites!

    Angie

  11. Oh, almost forgot: Between a Roc and a Hard Place, by Danny Birt, is an EXCELLENT short book (technically a kid’s book) with dragons in.

  12. Wow, what a list! I didn’t realize (silly of me) there were so many! I’ve only read 5 on your list — although the Inheritance Cycle counts for 4 books. And I’m reading Siege and Storm right now! AND I’ve got The Bone Dragon on my TBR for this month (so excited for this one), which I don’t see on the list, so there’s one more for you! :D

  13. Galactic Creatures, an anthology through Sparkito Press, has some good stories with dragons in. Full disclosure: including one of mine. :-)

  14. Awesome list!!! I’ve read a handful. My son and I love sci-fi/fantasy and dragons in particular:)

  15. That’s a great list! I love that there are so many older titles mixed in with the new. Some of the new I didn’t realize they had dragons – so now they are on my radar.
