Bout of Books!

Bout of Books

Bout of Books Goals

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 13th and runs through Sunday, May 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 7.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

Hi all, I’m participating in Bout of Books this time around and I’m so excited! I haven’t been able to participate in the last several because of icky grad school, but my term just finished a couple of weeks ago so it’s obviously time to get my reading on :D. At the time of writing, I am about to finish my finals, so all I want to do is read, haha. Sorry that I’m not linking these books or giving authors, if you want more info about a particular one, let me know, but otherwise it’s mostly just a list for me to keep track of what to read next!

Basically, I have a lot of books that I’ve been wanting to get read, so this is the perfect opportunity. I need to intersperse review books and for fun books though, otherwise I’d probably give up. So, first the review books that I’m going to aim for (in no particular order because I have to just go with what I want):

  • Colossus Rises (from ARCycling)
  • The Breeders
  • The Order of Dimensions
  • Tavern on the Edge of Time

And then some Netgalley books that I suppose are also review books, but it’s a different format ;-)

  • Gameboard of the Gods
  • Some Quiet Place
  • Through the Door

Then the books that I borrowed from friends/my mom a while ago and really need to get to:

  • Fate’s Edge
  • Gunmetal Magic
  • Dreams Underfoot
  • Searching for Dragons (nice and short :D)

Finally, the general omg I want to read these books and haven’t been able to! These will be interspersed with the “have to” books in case I hit a slump!

  • Throne of Glass
  • Seraphina
  • The Girl of Fire and Thorns
  • The Night Circus
  • Vessel

Um… yeah, this is a rather long list for me, but I’m also going to be reading as much as possible sooooooo, maybe :D. It’s good to stretch ;-).

Are you participating? What are your goals? :D

  1. Hello,
I saw that you were doing the Bout of Books read-a-thon. I’ve followed you to make sure I get your updates! I would really appreciate it if you could come over to my blog to check it out, and if you like it, you can follow me as well. I hope you’ll follow my read-a-thon journey. I blog about my favourite music and books hence the name Music Plus Books.
    Thank you and good luck,
    Music Plus Books
    – Laura

  2. I have been wanting to read the Girl of Fire and Thorns and the Night Circus as well. Good luck and hope you enjoy your books! Here are my Bout of Books Read-a-thon Goals if you’d like to stop by.

  3. First of all, I love the design for your blog! Also Throne of Glass, Seraphina and Girl of Fire and Thorns are all awesome!! I hope you enjoy them and good luck on your goals!

  4. Jenn @ A Glo-Worm Reads says:

Throne of Glass is so good! Have you already read the novellas? I loved them as well! Also, Seraphina is pretty awesome. I loved it! Those are all that I’ve read in your list, but The Breeders sounds pretty good! I’m curious about it! Good luck! Maybe I should sign up for this!

    • Yes, join in :D It’s really low key, just an excuse to read a little more. I haven’t read the novellas yet actually, I’m a bit hesitant about novellas to be honest xD I prefer to just read the full novel and then read the novellas to deal with my withdrawal, haha

      • Jenn @ A Glo-Worm Reads says:

All four of the novellas pretty much equal a second book, but I found it helped me to understand some of the things that happen in the book, like why she’s in prison to begin with. Plus other little things that happen. They take place before it, so I made sure to read them I can’t wait for the next book!

  5. Hhmm…this happens after graduation, so I might give it some serious consideration…..

  6. you are wicked determined! you will have a fun week, indeed.

    • Yeah, it might be too adventurous >.> I do better when I can just go down a list instead of have to think of what to read next ;-)

  7. Hannah @ Once Upon A Time says:

Ooh I must move Seraphina to my growing little pile. The Night Circus is already on there for Fantasy Faction book club. I shall decide roughly what to read a little nearer the time though, else I’ll be changing my mind maybe 8 times in the next couple of weeks. Good luck with your goals! :D

    • I will probably be adjusting the list too, since I’m trying to get through the review books before the read-a-thon, haha

  8. Oh bugger. I thought it might be fun to participate in this one, until I noticed the dates. I’d basically have 2 pays to participate before I check into the hospital for surgery, and I don’t imagine I’ll be up to too much reading in the days immediately following that. :/

Looks like I’ll have to wait until the next read-a-thon. Or maybe I should start my own! :p

Good luck with your reading goals, and I hope you accomplish them all!

    • Yeah, I keep wishing it was sooner since I have to travel for the second half of the week :( Oo, if you start one I’ll totally join in, I want every excuse to read more at the beginning of the summer!
