Dewey’s Read-a-thon is Today!

Dewey's Read-a-thon

It’s Read-a-thon Time!

So I love the idea of read-a-thons because I love the excuse to do nothing but read. However, my fiancee lives two hours away and so for the past three years, every Saturday has been spent hanging out with him because we don’t see each other during the week. He’s started working weekends lately though because of a change in his schedule. I carefully calculated which weekends he was scheduled to work and lo and behold Dewey’s Read-a-thon was finally at a time when I could prioritize reading!

Well, guess what happened between when I signed up and now? His schedule got changed again so that he worked last weekend and has this weekend off *facepalm*. So this will be another year of me reading little bits here and there instead of getting to go on a full binge of books. Here’s what I’m currently reading and I’ll update this post with progress!

An Ember in the Ashes Uprooted Becoming Jinn Two Serpents Rise

An Ember in the Ashes is my audiobook, so I do have hope of getting further in that while working around the house. Uprooted is my current eARC, Becoming Jinn my current physical ARC and Two Serpents Rise is my read-along book. Maybe I’ll talk the boy into going for a drive so I can read in the car ;-).

An Ember in the Ashes

I’ve mostly been having time to listen to my audiobook while doing chores and exercising and such, but I’ve made it to 87% of An Ember in the Ashes :D. Things are clearly almost to the big finale and I honestly have no idea how everything will turn out at this point! Definitely recommend this audiobook :).

Are you joining Dewey’s Read-a-thon? What are you reading currently?

  1. I always forget about readathons until they’re either almost over or over completely. Or else they never synch up with a time when I don’t have other responsibilities to focus on. Sad but true.

That’s why I usually like hosting my own readathons. I find a good time when I have no other obligations (and usually when my roommate is going to be away for a day or so), and then go nuts with the reading, because I don’t even have to concern myself with social interaction then. :p I love those times every once in a while; they’re great for my reading productivity!

    • Exactly! I like the weeklong ones a bit more for that reason, though there are so many these days that I just end up not doing any D:

  2. It looks like you snuck in some reading ;) I’m curious to see what you think about Ember.

  3. I’m reading Envy by Gregg Olsen. I don’t know if I like it yet. Enjoy the time with your fiance and the little time you have to read.

    • It sucks when you have a readathon book that doesn’t grab you right away, I hope you ended up liking it!

  4. Audiobooks are great for when you have other obligations. Hope your boyfriend is being understanding of your bookish preoccupation today and giving you time to read.

    • Totally! Sometimes I’m just antsy and need to walk around and do things too instead of sit on the couch, haha.

  5. Yay for audiobooks! Always help when other things need to get done (and when do they not). I hope you’re enjoying your Readathon!

    • Exactly! The idea of a day when there is nothing that needs to be accomplished is hilarious ;-)

  6. Don’t beat yourself up! Even if you read just one page you would have read more than what you started the day with. Dewey’s Readathon is a day to have fun and celebrate reading however you can, but it shouldn’t come before things you want or need to do. I know that if I lived two hours away from my boyfriend and today was my opportunity to see him, I’d ditch reading in a blink.

Have fun, read if you want, and enjoy the time you can spend with your fiancé :)

    • For sure! Of course we ran all the errands on Saturday and then I had plenty of time to read on Sunday, oh well!

  7. Little bits of reading here and there will add up though right? It looks like you have plenty of good books to choose from and I hope that you are able to get lots of reading done here and there. Most importantly I hope you are having lots of fun while doing it. Happy Reading!

  8. Next time tell the fiancé NOT TO CHANGE HIS WEEKEND! Or you should’ve gotten him to change it back – you still can?! Lol. I hope you can squeeze in some reading (together!) and just have fun.

Have an incredible day of reading all the things you don’t have to read!

    • I hope the exam went well! That is the problem with Dewey’s, doesn’t work well with school schedules!
