Feature & Follow Friday #9 – Publishing Industry

Welcome to FFF, hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read!

This week’s question:

Q: What have you learned from book blogging that you didn’t know before about the publishing industry?

Wow, so many things! I guess the biggest is this whole independent publishing and small press publishing thing ;-). I probably had an inkling that there were new ways to publish a book besides the traditional publishing houses, but I didn’t really know what those ways were. I still don’t know a lot about those processes, but I’m learning :D.

I love following back and I don’t really care how you follow me, so just let me know :D!

    • Haha, that is so true! I started a book blog a while ago without realizing there was a whole community, and now I’m still amazed! Thanks for stopping by! Checking out your blog now :D

  2. simpleschooling says:

I learned most of what I know by publishing myself, but it was a steep learning curve, that’s for sure. I’m still baffled by a lot of it to be honest, but getting out there and doing it yourself is one way to learn things in a hurry.

  3. Jessica@a GREAT read says:

Yeah I don’t know the whole intricacies of publishing, I just know that it is a very diligent and time consuming process!

    Here’s my Follow Friday

    Have a GREAT weekend!

    Old Follower :)

    • Definitely! Makes me appreciate the great books we get in the end even more :D Sorry I’m so late on the comments this week, off holidays! Off to check out your post :D

  4. My biggest eye opener about 2 years ago was that like 99% of the time, the author does not get to pick the cover art/artist (unless the author’s indie). Blew my mind away. So Brandon Sanderson requesting through his publisher for Micheal Whelan to do the cover for The Way of Kings was a big deal, and I am glad that all came together because it is a great cover.

    • Yeah, I didn’t realize that either until I started reading author blogs and hearing them complain about covers as much as we do, haha!
