Giveaway for Signed Holly Black ARCs!

Book Giveaway

That’s right all, I was very lucky and got to go to a signing for Holly Black and now I’m going to share the awesomeness! I have ARCs of Doll Bones and Coldest Girl in Coldtown signed and ready to send to you!

Doll Bones Giveaway Zach, Poppy and Alice have been friends for ever. They love playing with their action figure toys, imagining a magical world of adventure and heroism. But disaster strikes when, without warning, Zach’s father throws out all his toys, declaring he’s too old for them. Zach is furious, confused and embarrassed, deciding that the only way to cope is to stop playing . . . and stop being friends with Poppy and Alice. But one night the girls pay Zach a visit, and tell him about a series of mysterious occurrences. Poppy swears that she is now being haunted by a china doll – who claims that it is made from the ground-up bones of a murdered girl. They must return the doll to where the girl lived, and bury it. Otherwise the three children will be cursed for eternity . . .

Coldest Girl in Coldtown GiveawayTana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.

One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself.

So! I’m going to split this into two giveaways just so that we can spread the love a bit more. This is going to be limited to the US due to shipping. The winners must respond within 48 hours otherwise I’ll have to pick a new winner.

  2. […] Especially stuff like meeting bad-ass Y.A. authors & bloggers. Before I proceed I would first like to remind you of this: gif credit John Green says. This is important because Thursday night I went to a Holly Black signing for The Coldest Girl in Coldtown (which is SO amazing!! Buy and read it immediately!) and if meeting this charismatic, hilarious woman was not enough of a nerd freak out moment for me, I also got to meet a few more amazing authors and bloggers. As you can imagine, I was a bit overcome with booknerd emotions. So, Thursday night at Schuler Books in Okemos, MI, I walked up to a crowd of women and asked if they were MI blogger people. There was a moment of blankness on the faces of these women and then they answered politely that they were not. A few minutes later it clicked…. People…. one of these women was Holly freaking Black. Gahhhhh! And she could have been all like: But she absolutely wasn’t. Look at this pretty, pretty cover: Book description via Goodreads: ” Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. The Coldest Girl in Coldtown is a wholly original story of rage and revenge, of guilt and horror, and of love and loathing from bestselling and acclaimed author Holly Black”   I’m going to write a rave review this weekend telling you all about why this is one book you need to read and I’m even going to give a copy away! So be sure to check back and enter! In the meantime.. here are a few of my favorite of Holly’s statements from the evening: While talking about her love of really, really bad reality TV she revealed the inspiration for one aspect of The Coldest Girl in Coldtown, “I asked myself: If there was a walled in city full of vampires, would I watch a show about it… YES, I would!”-HB Holly also discussed our tendency as human beings to be a little too curious about danger, “We’re interested in getting close to danger and escaping it. We’re also interested in other people getting closer to danger and not escaping it.” -HB And when asked which ‘creature’ she might write about next, Holly responded, “I’m open to anything except for the zombie. I hate and fear the zombie.”-HB If Holly Black comes to a city near you, I absolutely recommend making the trip. She has such a great brain and it is a pleasure to hear her speak. But the most important thing you need to know right now is that you need to tweet Holly, demanding that she make a video of herself telling a fairytale called “The White Cat.” Trust me. We all want this to happen. So, SO entertaining!  Twitter: @hollyblack Now, this story continues with the admission that while I did not immediately recognize Holly (for shame!), I did scope out a few other authors in the front row….  So of course I had to accost them. First, I asked Amber of Me, My Shelf and I if she was an author…. Because I like to vocalize all of my incorrect assumptions. BUT as it turns out Amber and I already knew of each other online which was fun. She also runs Book Nerd Tours and is gorgeous and the nicest person. Amber, it seems, is a bit of an author hoarder as she had brought along with her the lovely Leah Clifford (who totally reminds me of Tina Majorino‘s ‘Mac’ from Veronica Mars), author of A Touch Mortal…. AND Aimee Carter and Courtney Allison Moulton.  Aimee Carter wrote The Goddess Test series and her new book Pawn is coming out November 26, 2013. And Courtney wrote the Angelfire series: I was so not cool. I was level 10 excited and I zero percent cared about said lack of coolness. It was amazing. Later, that night I also met the super sweet Anya of On Starships & Dragonwings who is currently giving away SIGNED ARC copies of The Coldest Girl in Coldtown and Doll Bones! on her blog this week! Go check her blog out and enter to win! […]
