Spoils and Tribute

Spoils and Tribute

Spoils and Tribute is a feature of On Starships and Dragonwings where I tell you about the books I’ve bought and received recently. I promise that I paid for all my spoils and I’m not letting the “tribute” go to my head ;-). It’s inspired in part by Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves!

I once again have neglected to do a Spoils and Tribute post in a while, so this is multiple weeks ;-). I also realized that I completely forgot to include audiobooks that I got whenever it was that I got them, so they get to be included too, hehe.

Spoils and Tribute Avalon  Uninvited   Archetype  Into the Dark Dark Eden Lady Thief Vicious

Yeah, I don’t really know how this happened…. I know how some of it happened though! The physical books are two ARCs from blogger friend (one of them is a “dragon book”, hence why I get it ;-) ) and Archived is from Tressa’s read-a-thon giveaway :D. Then there are a lot of NetGalley and EdelWeiss ARCs. I honestly didn’t expect to get approved for some of these, so then when I did there were more than I was expecting. However! According to my reading schedule, I should be able to fit them all in :D. AND I’M SO FREAKING EXCITED!!!! I am further excited by the ebook of Vicious that the most wonderful and glorious Tabitha sent me when she heard that my library didn’t have a copy! <3 Pabkins sooooooo hard :D. I have also scheduled Vicious into the schedule since it MUST BE READ ASAP!

Spoils and Tribute Reboot Legend The 5th Wave Seraphina Bitterblue

First the non-physical books! They are all audiobooks even though they don’t look like audiobook covers: just pretend! In my continuing effort to get my butt in gear and actually finish/start all those awesome series everyone is raving about, I have turned to Audible and their amazing deals on audiobooks! I have already finished Legend and am a good third into Reboot. Then I might throw in a fantasy since I have a lot of alien/dystopian review books right now AS YOU CAN SEE! I am going to preserve my beautiful hardcovers by listening to audiobooks instead too :D. Though they better make Seraphina #2 match my hardcover otherwise there will be roaring! (Can you tell I’m really tired? No? Excellent.) Then the physical books are of course Prodigy because I had to buy a matching hardcover in preparation for buying Champion, and Scarlet so that I can get caught up and review Lady Thief!

Whew…. I think I should go read now don’t you?

What have you gotten recently?

  1. Awesome haul! I got Death Sworn, Uninvited, and Avalon as well. Don’t they just sound awesome?!
I really need to get a copy of Scarlet! I love the premise and now the sequel is already coming out *sigh*
The 5th Wave is amazing by the way! I won it and wasn’t really expecting to like it that much, but I found it really hard to stop reading!
Enjoy them all, and thanks for stopping by!

    • So freaking excited about those three! Especially because someone else told me they liked Death Sworn *happy dance* I’m hoping that’s one of the big fantasy books of 2014!

  2. Really great haul. I’ve seen the cover for Uninvited a couple times now and I’m so curious about it. I’m trying really hard not to request any more books on Netgalley for a while – I have a bit of a backlog going on! Enjoy your books :-)

    • It looks so intriguing! I just hope that it’s heavily science based otherwise I will be disappointed ;-) I hear you about the NetGalley backlog, I really need to stop….

      • It’s hard isn’t it? I didn’t understand how Netgalley worked when I first started so I requested a bunch, in part expecting to be declined for a good number of them. And then I wasn’t. Eek. So now my ratio is 14.8%. so bad. I refuse to request anymore until I get it to 50% and even then I’ll be hesitant. I’m shooting for a 90% ratio.

If you have a ton of netgalleys (or free ebooks of any kind) sitting around you should check out the challenge I’m co-hosting next month. It’s going to be a lot of fun and a way to encourage each other to get through those piles. :-) If you’re interested here’s the link

        • Yup, I keep hovering between 70% and 80% because I got approved for a lot more big six arcs than I expected to! Which is awesome, but also a little stressful ;-)

I love galley tackling challenges, but I don’t think that my reviews will qualify since I need to schedule them mostly for 2014, so they won’t even be up before the challenge ends ya know? I could link to my BookLikes reviews, since I do post them immediately, but I’m tend to forget to include challenge links (and challenge links don’t fit in my review format all that well), so it tends to be safer for me to not participate if that is a requirement :-/

  3. I actually finished Death Sworn a few days ago. It was pretty good. Otherwise, I recently bought a few books, but you have so many I would love to read! -makes grabby hands- how bout I just come stay for a few weeks and touch your books! D:

  5. I heard Vicious is quite a good book. Haven’t read it myself, but my curiosity was caught enough by a few reviews I read that I definitely want to read it, when the chance comes up.

    • Agreed, I kept hearing it was awesome, but for some reason that just didn’t translate into must read. I will now though :D

  6. Awesome freaking haul!! There are so many books shown that I totally plan to read as well. Are you liking Reboot, I hope to read that this year. I’m really looking forward to The Archived since I loved Vicious so much. I have been meaning to read Seraphina forever!!

    • Hehe, as you already read in the Updates, yup Reboot is fun :D There are some inconsistencies that annoy me and the romance is looming bit a too much, but they are zombie super-humans! What’s not to love?? :D

Ugh, so agreed about Seraphina! I got it as a gift in hardcover last x-mas, and then I borrowed the CDs from the library, but I didn’t want to listen to it them (the narration takes some getting used to), but now I’m determined! In fact I think that’ll be the next thing I listen to!

  7. Okay, have to admit I am kind of blown away by how many good books you have on here! Will definitely be needing to add quite a few of these to my own TBR pile! Enjoy them all. My STS

  9. Weeeee you got Death Sworn :D I think that’s the galley I’m MOST psyched about, I sure hope it ends up being as good as it sounds (and looks!) – though I am pretty pumped about Avalon

Ok, so, moving on, you have one AMAZING haul this week girl! Archived, Into the Dark, Scarlet, Lady Thief, Reboot, Legend, 5th Wave & BitterBlue are ALL on my TBR/wishlist! I really enjoyed Vicious and I hope you will too!! Seraphina is one I’ve wanted to read for too long – and owned for almost half as long LOL (sigh) hoping to get into it soon! Oh and I’m loving the cover for Crystal Fire but since I didn’T have much luck with book 1 , I’ll probably be living vicariously through you guys’ review for it…unless it blows everyone away, in which case I’ll likely cave and get it XD

    Enjoy your spoils & tribute!!

    • Isn’t that cover awesome?? And assassins :D I was amazed when I saw that pop up in my EW downloads, I kind of feel like I tricked someone >.>

Yey, I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Vicious. That is one that I just don’t know how it missed my radar, but I think the cover threw me off a bit, I’m not an orange fan ;-)

  10. I personally can’t wait to read Avalon myself! Awesome haul!

  11. Great haul, so many awesome books! I see we share some NG books.
I’d love to read Avalon and Death Sworn.
    Happy reading!

  14. Wow, this is an outstanding haul this week!

I cannot wait for the second Seraphina book. The first one was simply amazing.

    • Thanks! I really don’t know how it happened D: I have so many eARCs to read now, and I can’t even dive into the pile and hide since their virtual haha

  15. LeKeisha Thomas says:

I finally caved and bought The Infernal Devices boxed set because I’ve read all the published Mortal Instruments. I really was gonna pass, but said “what the hell”. LOL! I loved Eleanor and Park so much that I bought Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I one-clicked way too many free ebooks this week to even name. Ugh, why do I do that to myself? I’m really excited for Allegiant Tuesday, as I took the whole day off work for my Dr. appointment. So by Tuesday evening I’ll be finished with it. *excited Squee* I’m really waiting on World After by Susan Ee next month. I’m just excited for all things books and movies that are coming up. Thor, Catching Fire, and The Hobbit for sure!!!

    • Nice! If you like TMI, then I think you’ll really enjoy TDI, since I hear there is a similar structure (I’ve only read Infernal Devices, haha!). Those buy with one click buttons are so difficult! I’m realized that it’s harder to buy ones that I actually have to pay money for otherwise I would be in a lot more trouble, haha. OO, nice, nothing better than being able to binge read on release day :D *gets popcorn to drool at Thor and Loki* <3
