Spoils and Tribute

Spoils and Tribute

Spoils and Tribute is a feature of On Starships and Dragonwings where I tell you about the books I’ve bought and received recently. I promise that I paid for all my spoils and I’m not letting the “tribute” go to my head ;-). Spoils and Tribute is my own take on Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves.

Normally I’m awesome and separate books into piles for my two categories, but I forgot to do that and my back hurts so I don’t want to retake the photos, forgive me? :(

Tor was wonderful and sent me a finished copy of Copperhead <3! It’s such a lovely cover and since it’s past the publication date I totally wasn’t expecting for it to show up in my mail, hehe.

Spoils

Two library book requests came in this week: Dark Star and Ironskin. When Copperhead showed up, I immediately requested Ironskin since I’ve been meaning to read that one for so long and just never managed to fit it in! Dark Star is another pre-ARC read that finally made it to me through inter-library loan. Finally, I’m sure what caught your eye were those two copies of Allegiant that I bought ;-). Guess what! They’re both signed :D. I’m giving the second copy of Allegiant away since it was just too awesome of a prize to resist grabbing.

For once, I haven’t been approved for any new galleys! This is definitely for the best since I have so many that I need to catch up on, slowly but surely ;-). What have you gotten recently?

  1. I just finished Allegiant the other day. It prompted me to not only review it, but to write a couple of editorials about various issues I see crop up in novels frequently. Ultimately, though, was pretty impressed, and that in itself is impressive since as much as I love dystopian fiction, I’ve been coming down on it really hard over the past while because it feels like it’s all just derivative crud. The fact that Allegiant stood out (as did the rest of the series) says something, I think.

    • That’s good to hear! I’ve been seeing people flipping out all week and have gotten a bit nervous but also curious. I need to figure out when I’ll fit it in, but I’m excited to read a fresh series ending.

  2. Loved seeing what you got this week. Hope you enjoy your reading.
