Spoils and Tribute is a feature of On Starships and Dragonwings where I tell you about the books I’ve bought and received recently (my version of Stacking the Shelves). I promise that I paid for all my spoils and I’m not letting the “tribute” go to my head ;-). Planning to pillage is just my version of Waiting on Wednesday where I share books that have caught my eye!
I hate it when you are going out of town and get a notification that a package will show up right after you leave. It was seriously like Fedex was taunting me and I kept wondering what was in the package all weekend! But I’m better now since there were two lovely books from Candlewick waiting for me when I got back :D.
I love getting to know quality small-press publishers! I’m so excited to find out about all of these since I hadn’t heard about any of them before *dances*.
A Dark Inheritance (Unsolicited, Scholastic Press) – Middlegrade with the superpower of being able to alter reality, score!
The Interrogation of Ashala Wolf (Unsolicited, Candlewick Press) – More superpowers! But this time darker and gritty, I’m pumped.
Feral Curse (Unsolicited, Candlewick Press) – So this is a second book, anyone read the first, Feral Nights? Thoughts?
Fireborn by Keri Arthur (NetGalley, Signet) – Phoenixes! I’m so excited to be on the blog tour for this one too since it means giveaways too :D
The Buried Life by Carrie Patel (NetGalley, Angry Robot) – I had this one in the Planning to Pillage section when I started this post and then I got approved for it, yey! Steampunk murder mystery for the win!
Some Fine Day by Kat Ross (NetGalley, Strange Chem) – As soon as I got the email that this was on NetGalley, I jumped to request it. I really hope the toads aren’t a lie >.>
The Blasted Lands by James A. Moore – (NetGalley, Angry Robot) – I loved how unique the first book in this series, Seven Forges, was and am really interested in where things are going to go after that ending :D.
There was a signing for Kelley Armstrong in my area, so I scored a copy of Sea of Shadows and got it signed :D. Then I had to buy a copy of The Forbidden Library so that I could see the finalized interior illustrations (I was actually a little disappointed with them… Anyone else?). Even though I haven’t quite finished book one, I need to get School for Good and Evil #2 so that I’m ready to jump right in, and then similarly, Plus One is just so pretty I couldn’t resist buying a copy even though I haven’t read my eARC yet >.>. I totally buy books just because I think they’ll be pretty on my shelf….
Planning to Pillage
(i.e. new to the wishlist)
Guys guys guys!!!! Loooooooook!!!! Firefight has a cover and it is in the same style as Steelheart and it’s all of the awesome :D. 2015 come to meeeeeeee!
Confession time: I haven’t read the first two Trent books *hides from tomatoes* and I know it is a huge problem given my dragon-addiction. However, I own them! And they are actually a significant reason for me trying to cut down on ARCs so that I have time for older books :D. And therefore, I’m super excited for book three on principle!
What have you gotten recently? What are you looking forward to?
