Spoils and Tribute

Spoils and Tribute

Spoils and Tribute is a feature of On Starships and Dragonwings where I tell you about the books I’ve bought and received recently. I promise that I paid for all my spoils and I’m not letting the “tribute” go to my head ;-). S&T is inspired by Tynga’s Stacking the Shelves!

So my picture taking for the past couple weeks has failed a bit because I didn’t remember to separate things out >.> Therefore these pictures will be mostly accurate as to which I got for review and which I bought, but there will be a couple exceptions to explain ;-). I once again got to raid my friend’s excess ARC pile, so there are a couple here that I’m really excited about :D. That also means watch for some awesome giveaways in the near future, ie as soon as I finish the books ;-).

Mermaid Challenge  Spoils and Tribute 1 Quantum Entanglement by Liesel K. Hill After Eden  Fireborn Iron Traitor Waterfell Cracked

My goodie package from the Summer Mermaid Challenge arrived from Liesel and it’s soooo cute! :D Don’t mind me while I go rewatch The Little Mermaid >.>. Also my review copy of Pawn arrived *happy dance* sorry the picture is so dark though D:. Also, yes that is an ARC of Cress that I snagged from my friend’s pile and yes I will be giving it away as soon as I finish it! Prophecy and Ashes to Ashes both snuck into this picture because they are in the read soon pile, but they are older ARCs snagged from friend’s house ;-), along with Bang!

I also got a bunch of electronic review copies this past week (like literally Bloomsbury just went and approved 3 that had been sitting there for days >.>). Quantum Entanglement is the second in Liesel’s Interchron series, yey! Then all the rest are NetGalley approvals, thank you everyone!!

Spoils and Tribute 3 Spoils and Tribute 2

Eeeee, lots of ARCs from friend of awesome, including a second copy of Bang (I traded for one, but it was taking a long time, so I borrowed a copy and now I have two, so one to giveaway :D). I also traded for Tandem and am so excited that it arrived! It’s still pending on NetGalley *sigh*. I also HAD to buy a final copy of Kinslayer to match my Stormdancer. I honestly didn’t like the cover when it was revealed, but now I luuuuuurve it! Shatter Me, The Alchemyst, and Trickster’s Queen were all used and Shatter Me was only $2!! I love my library book sales! Then there is the stack of ARCs that I nabbed including some very exciting 2014 releases which I will also be giving away as soon as I finish them, have no fear :).

Oh my, that’s a lot of books. I have my schedule all planned out though, so I should be able to make it all fit! What have you gotten recently?

    • Oo, how do you like After Eden and Pawn?

      • I was disappointed with After Eden, it was a little too cutesy for me, Pawn, on the other hand is pretty brutal, and it’s really surprising me, in a good way, so far so good.

        • Oo, good things to know. I’m in theory waiting for my reading group to read both of them, but I also kind of want to get ahead. The cover of After Eden meant that I really wasn’t interested, except that my reading group wanted to read it so I requested! Pawn is taunting me from the top of the pile *pets*

  7. THis is so amazing! How did you friend get so many ARCs? UGHHHH. I’M SO JEALOUS.

Thanks for stopping by at my STS!

    • My friend works at a bookstore, so the publishers send a lot of ARCs there and she’s been working and blogging for like six years, so she has a lot of close contacts ;-)

So many books!!! I wish that I had time to be a book blogger. *sad face* I’m sure my bookshelf would be full to max. It looks just decent now, because I went ebook crazy 2 yrs ago, but now I’m back into buying prints. I love my ereaders but I can’t live without the feel and smell of books! Nice haul!!

    • Haha, it is hard to find time sometimes! I do very little else in my free time besides read these days ;-) I love physical books too, mostly because of the covers and pretty spines. I’m going to have a bit of trouble fitting these on my existing shelves…. there might be some stacks on the floor for a while >.>
