Stacking the Shelves #12

Stacking the Shelves

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga! I had kind of a weird week, so I decided that some therapy in a used bookstore was called for :D.

For Review:

The Breeders by Matthew Beier

I got The Breeders for review this week, and I have to say, while it looks a little odd, I’m quite excited. It’s a dystopian satire and I just can’t do it justice to explain, so I’d recommend clicking on the Goodreads link if you are interested in dystopian political satires about sexuality. I like to glance at the beginnings of books even if I don’t have time to start them right away, just to get an idea of the writing, and both the writing quality and the quality of the book itself make me really excited :D. Also it’s signed!

Bought:

Nimisha's Ship by Anne McCaffrey Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris New Spring by Robert Jordan

I also decided to go to the library used book store this week! I have a general rule that anything by Anne McCaffrey that I haven’t already read should be bought, so that’s where Nimisha’s Ship came from. I also have been watching True Blood with my boyfriend, so I figured I might as well get Dead Until Dark (for $1!!) and see if I like the books :D. Also, I love Brandon Sanderson, and since he’s doing this crazy Wheel of Time thing, I grabbed New Spring, which is apparently Wheel of Time #0? Also, the book is in freaking mint condition! I don’t know why it was in the used bookstore, and only $1, but how could I pass that up! It’s spine isn’t even broken :D.

What did you get this week?? Also let me know if you are a new follower and I’ll follow you back :D

  6. Congrats on the mint edition of Wheel of Time #0, total SCORE! I really need to get into the Wheel of Time series myself…I’ll be keeping an eye out for your thoughts on New Spring…and Dead Until Dark for that matter :) Congrats on the signed copy of Breeders as well – I’m off to check it out on Goodreads right now! 8. Sweet haul! I personally liked the books better than the show. The show doesn’t really follow the books that closely. I hope you enjoy! They are so addictive! I hope you enjoy all that you got this week. Thanks for sharing and happy reading!

  10. I didn’t know there was a #0 for the Wheel of Time series! I might have to check that out…after I finish the Song of Fire and Ice Series, or at least catch up on it. Also thinking about picking up Dead Until Dark, but I think I’ll wait until your review unless I see it pop up in my library’s store since those prices are pretty much impossible to resist. Happy reading!

    • And it’s so much shorter, so it seems like a great intro to the very long series :D Haha, buying at the library is totally the way to go ;-)

      • Shorter is always excellent. Kind of makes me think of those free samples stores sometimes offer. “Here, try this little bit of my fantasy/writing-style/book and feel free to jump into the series if you like it”. xD

Love library sales! So sad to find out I missed the major one by a weekend…I love the whole getting a bag of books for a dollar thing…though, looking at my TBR piles probably was for the best that I didn’t get to go. LOL.

        • Haha, but it’s so much fun to get bunches of cheap books, even if you don’t plan to read them right away… maybe I have a hoarding problem….

I’m listening to Dead Until Dark right now — it’s pretty good so far. The Breeders looks interesting. Enjoy all your books! My STS

  12. Anne McCaffrey! Excellent choice.

I’ve tried to read The Wheel Of Time series twice……but only got part way through book 2. I may have to give it another shot just to see what Sanderson does with the last few books.

    • Exactly! I’m worried about how long it will take me since I’m not very good at series anymore, but I just gotta read everything by Sanderson, haha! We could try doing a read a long to motivate each other ;-)

  13. Jessica@a GREAT read says:

OOh nice!! The early Southern Vampire novels were pretty awesome! Hope you enjoy all your reads!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by!

    Have a GREAT weekend!
