Buried in Books!

Buried in Books
I seem to have gone a little crazy again this month >.>. I requested a number of books from Netgalley and figured that I’d get about half. Turns out the publishers were in a good mood since I got accepted for a lot more than expected! Good thing I just turned in my last paper for the semester and so I’m freeeeee. And by free I mean that I need to spend half the day doing research at least (probably more if my adviser is asked) but I don’t have crazy deadlines bearing down on me. I’m going to be spending a fair amount of time reading all of these awesome books before diving into hardcore summer work mode ;-).

Netgalley

Some Quiet Place School Spirits Shadows of the Realm Gameboard of the Gods Through the Door

I actually got approved for Gameboard of the Gods a while ago, I just haven’t posted about my Netgalley books for a while >.>. In any case, I’m currently reading School Spirits and loving it, so watch for that review in a week or so. I’m also super pumped for Some Quiet Place because it sounds like an awesome premise :D. A big thank you to all the publishers and Netgalley for these!

Audio

Clockwork Princess

Also, Simon and Schuster Audio has been awesome and sent me the audiobook of Clockwork Princess so that I can review it as soon as I finish listening to Clockwork Prince. Thank you!!!

What did you get this week? Any votes on which Netgalley book I should read next??

Buried in Books #23

Buried in Books

Buried in Books is my own spin on the weekly haul and Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga. I haven’t done a BiB for a while, but I got some awesome ARCs and review copies recently that I had to share. I also have some ARCs that I’m probably not going to get to, so if you would be interested in a giveaway, let me know in the comments!

ARCs

Quintana of Charyn Plague in the Mirror The Testing

A big thank you to Candlewick Press for the first two. The problem is that I haven’t read the first books of the Lumatere Chronicles, so I probably wouldn’t get to the third for a long while D: but I have found a new home for it over with blogger friend Krys of Bibliopunkk. I have an ARC and Plague in the Mirror is scheduled for July, but I’m not in the mood for historical/romantic fantasy right now, so I don’t think I’ll read it in time. Finally, I got an ARC of The Testing from Krys as well (she is so awesome :D), and read it already, it rocks! If you’d be interested in a giveaway for the available ARCs, let me know!

Finished Review Copies

Mirage by Jenn Reese Clockwork Angel Clockwork Prince

These are final copies (that I’m definitely keeping, so pretty :D) that I received for review. Another thank you to Candlewick Press for Mirage, which is the sequel to Above World (highly recommended!). I also received audiobooks of Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Prince from Simon and Schuster Audio (thank you!!!!!) in order to let you all know how the audiobook versions are (awesome so far!).

What books are you excited about this week?? Remember to let me know if you’d be interested in a giveaway for any of the ARCs!

Buried in Books/STS #22

Buried in Books

Buried in Books is my own spin on the weekly haul and Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga. It was my birthday last week and I got books and giftcards to bookstores, what more can a girl ask for??? In addition to completely plowing through the giftcard, I went a bit past it as well, oops >.> and could not resist all the pretty library books! A few more holds came available this week than I expected, so I might not be able to get to everything before it needs to go back, but that’s all right. I can always borrow them again :D.

Review

Geography Club The Elephant of Surprise

Before I closed my review requests, Brent Hartinger asked if I wanted to review his new stand alone The Elephant of Surprise as well as Geography Club to promote Geography Club being turned into a movie. While LGBT YA contemporary is not my usual genre, I’ve been meaning to read more contemporary so it sounded like a great opportunity :D. Watch for my review of Geography Club at the end of the month just in time for the movie release!

Borrowed

Scarlet The Iron King Grave Mercy Above World Pushing the Limits Mockingjay Searching for Dragons

Yeah…. In my defense, several of these books had multiple people on the hold list before me, and apparently they just decided they didn’t want the book. I was expecting to get Scarlet for another month, same with Above World and Pushing the Limits…. On the plus side, I’ve already finished Grave Mercy :D. But it is still unlikely I will make it through them all before they need to go back, and I’m all right with that. Searching for Dragons I borrowed from my bookish friend since I enjoyed the first one (Dealing with Dragons) so much :D.

Bought

Dragonlogy The Dragonology Handbook Dragon Slippers Vessel To Sail Beyond the Sunset Ever After

All right, you can see how I easily surpassed my giftcard :D. Let’s start with the awesome dragon books! If you like dragons, you need to check out the Dragonology books. They have gorgeous art and are those really fun fictional non-fiction since they are “written” by a dragonologist trying to record information and SAMPLES of dragons for aspiring dragonologists. The Dragonology Handbook has lessons for beginning, intermediate and advanced dragonologists, which include dragon biology, dragon script, magic and riddle lessons with homework! So much fun :D. I also was very excited to find a copy of Dragon Slippers in good condition at the used bookstore when I went adventuring! Then Vessel has been on the TBR wishlist for a few months, so it was time to get it :D. I also found a hardcover copy of To Sail Beyond the Sunset (one of my favorite books) for $1 at the library sale section!!! Obviously had to buy it! Finally, Ever After is actually a SIGNED COPY which I will be giving away sometime soon ;-).

Birthday Gifts

A Natural History of Dragons Eon Tiger Lily

And of course we are continuing the dragon obsession a bit here… oh well :D. My friend read A Natural History of Dragons before giving it to me and assures me that it is as excellent as one could hope, so I’m excited to sink my teeth (not literally, so pretty!) into that one! Also I keep seeing amazing reviews for Eon and am more and more pumped that I own a copy now. Finally, yey Tiger Lily, I’ve been meaning to read that one forever and such a pretty cover (orange is so under appreciated, hehe).

I believe in book therapy >.> Life has been stressful and making a little pile of books to surround myself makes me feel better, haha. And they are all so pretty! My problem though has been deciding which to read, gah! Suggestions??

Buried in Books/STS #21

Buried in Books

Buried in Books is my own spin on the weekly haul and Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga. I’ve resisted buying books for several weeks *pins a medal to her shirt*, however I have gotten a couple library books, review books and book swap books and decided to lump them all into a several weeks update ;-).

Review

Spirit Singer

I was in the market for a new audiobook and Iambik audio kindly offered to let me review Spirit Singer for them!

Library

Catching Fire

After finishing Spirit Singer, I needed another audiobook, and so headed to the YA section of the library to grab Catching Fire and finally catch up on that craze ;-). This is the audiobook I’m currently listening to :D.

Trade

Artemis Fowl The Great Hunt

Finally, I like to use PaperbackSwap.com when I can to get books for free, and so got a copy of The Great Hunt to continue our Wheel of Time read along, and a copy of the first Artemis Fowl book for funnsies :D.

How have you been doing at resisting too many new books? ;-) What pretties did you get this week? :D

Stacking the Shelves #20

Stacking the Shelves

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga! I don’t know how this happened, I walked into the bookstore for a perfectly legitimate reason, and somehow walked out with three more books than I meant to get, how?? The temptation was just too great ;-)

Review

Crash Fire by Heather James

I got onto a audiobook review list this month and my first pick was Crash. I’ve seen a couple mixed reviews around the blogosphere, but I figure that I’ll give it a shot anyway since I can always use another audiobook. I just need to figure out how to get my iPhone to play through my car speakers now…. I also spotted Fire by Heather James available for review through Goodreads and decided to grab a copy to review :).

Bought

City of Ashes City of Glass Clockwork Angel Matched

So when I was going to the bookstore this week, I spotted the Mortal Instruments books for $7 off each! How can you resist that price?? I haven’t even read the first one (which I got for x-mas), but I know that they are loved by many, and figured that I’d never find such a bargain again ;-). Clockwork Angel was also included in this bargain sale, so of course it came along for the ride. Then when I was grocery shopping, I stumbled into the book section (note to self: grocery stores with book sections are dangerous) and spotted Matched for a wonderful price of $7. I had been debating getting Matched for a while, and figured this was the universe telling me to go for it ;-)

Gifts

Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Finally, it was one of my good friend’s birthdays this week and I of course needed to get him a book! I decided that I had to expose him and his reading girlfriend to the amazingness of Daughter of Smoke and Bone and apparently they both read it in the course of 5 days, that’s how much they loved it :D. Go me!

What did you get this week?? Any tips on what I should read next? :D Remember to let me know if you are a new follower and I’ll follow you back!

Stacking the Shelves

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga! I love the holidays because I love buying books for my friends just as much as getting books for myself ;-).
