Top Ten Best Sequels Ever

Top Ten Tuesday

Thanks to the gals of The Broke and The Bookish for hosting this meme every week!

I kind of fail at keeping up with series, so it was a little tricky to come up with my top ten sequels and mostly I just have sequels and I like :). I’m not actually sure if sequel means only #2 or everything besides #1, anyone know?

Number 2’s

Kinslayer by Jay Kristoff Review Codex Born by Jim C. Hines The Deepest Night River Road by Suzanne Johnson Searching for Dragons Siege and Storm Mirage by Jenn Reese Through the Ever Night

In any case, I do love my #2’s! There isn’t actually all that much to say about them except that they all added to an awesome world started in the first book and gave us more insights into our favorite characters :D. Plus added some new characters ;-).

Lots More

The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews

So I dunno if #3 and #6 count as sequels, but I love them too much to resist! These both were my favorite in their respective series and both came out this year, funny how that works ;-)

    • No! I think that means that you actually have a life ;-) But I’m really excited for you to start reading them all someday :D

  2. You already know which ones I agree with, but I’m in the middle of KINSLAYER and so far am completely BLOWN AWAY!

  4. I decided to count everything but #1 as a sequel but I also wasn’t sure…
I haven’t actually read any of your picks, but I’ve read Shadow & Bone and the wait for the matching edition of the sequel is doing terrible things to my mind >.< Also, I loved The Sweetest Dark! It was so different the writing was a real treat :)
I also really need to look into Jay Kristoff's series… I've heard such mixed things about the cultural representation though that I'm not sure what to do :/

    • Hehe, whew, glad I wasn’t the only one! Do you have the UK edition? Why can’t you get a matching one??

The thing about Kristoff’s series is that the first book messes things up and people were mad (and I was only meh about it), but he completely turns things around in the second book and has actually fixed the biggest complaints I’ve heard, so you should definitely try out the second book if it sounds interesting!

  5. I haven’t read any of these. But I am definitely adding a few to my to be read list!

  9. Great list Anya. I loved Through the Ever Night and can’t wait for Into the Still Blue. I’m eager to see what you think about it! I have a couple of the same ones as you on my list–Through the Ever Night and Siege and Storm. Both were just wonderful.

    • I realized looking at my list that I picked sequels where the romance is less than it was in the first book >.> I’m such a cynic ;-)
