Top Ten Books At The Top Of My Summer TBR List

Top Ten Tuesday

Thanks to the gals of The Broke and The Bookish for hosting this meme every week!

I love these topics! I pretty much always fail, but it helps me to come up with a ten book TBR list for each season ;-). I have a couple different goals for the summer, so I’m splitting this up into the three categories!

Mermaid Books

Vicious Deep Forbidden Sea Of Triton Everblue

The first goal for the summer is to kick butt at the Mermaid Summer reading challenge. These are the four books that I’m excited to get to first and that I have copies to read ;-). I haven’t heard a lot about Everblue though, but since it was a Kindle freebie a few months ago, I want to get to it ;-).

TBR Pile Challenge Books

Darkness Shows the Stars Poison Study Legend

This is honestly my favorite part of the summer. I joined in the TBR Pile challenge and while most of my mermaid books will also count, I want to take the opportunity to read some of the awesome books that have been sitting on the shelf far too long. I just got a copy of For Darkness Shows the Stars that I am so pumped to read. I also keep hearing amazing things about Poison Study and was able to get a used copy a while back so I have to read that one! Finally, Legend is just too great to have not read according to several people I know ;-).

Review Books

Mist Playing Tyler The Deepest Night

Finally, I do need to keep up with the review books during the summer ;-). I got Mist and Playing Tyler through NetGalley that I need to read before July. I figure I should aim to get far ahead because I’ll probably see more that I want to read by July, haha. I also just heard that I will be receiving The Deepest Night through LibraryThing so I’ll have to read that as soon as I get it :D.

What are you reading this summer? Do you have any recommendations for which of these to make sure I read??

  1. Forbidden Sea looks really good. I haven’t read many mermaid books so I will have to look into that one. :) Have a great Summer of reading!
Here is my post from Tuesday.

  2. I LOVE that you have so many mermaid books. It would be great to find a good one!

    • Yessss! Highly recommend Above World if you’re looking for a MG mermaid book with an unexpectedly sophisticated plot and world :D

  3. Awesome list! I just finished a mermaid book yesterday :D (Luminaire, by Ciye Cho). I also want to read the sequel to The Sweetest Dark because that book was fantastic! Poison Study’s also been on my to-buy list for a while. Everyone seems to love it :)
Have fun with your list, and thanks for stopping by mine!

    • Yey, I’m glad you liked The Sweetest Dark, it’s obviously on my gotta read soon list, I have read the first couple of chapters when I was riding home from the bookstore xD

What a great idea. What’s better to read in the summer when you need fresh sea waves than mermaid books. I got Everblue while it was kindle freebie too.
I loved Healer series so I should really check out Study series by Maria Snyder. And Legend was very good ya dystopian. :)
I’ve got review copies of Playing Tayler and Mist too. I hope we enjoy them both. :)
Thanks for stopping by my TTT.

    • Right?? I don’t really do the whole beach thing, but I can read about it :D I’m looking forward to your thoughts on Playing Tyler. I just finished it and it was interesting… ;-)

  5. MERMAID SUMMER READING CHALLENGE??? WHAT!!! I need to get on that. I LOVE mermaids. Also, Of Triton is GOOD. Just as fun as Of Poseidon. Poison Study and For Darkness Shows the Stars are also EXCELLENT. Such different stories, but GREAT reads.

    • Yes, join us!!! Hehe, I had to make sure there was some variety on the list just in case I needed a mermaid break ;-) (like that’s gonna happen!)

  6. Ahhh your TTT’s are always so awesome :D Poison Study is on my high-priority shelf and it’s getting more and more impossible to ignore! I was lucky enough to get my hands on Vicious Deep recently and I hope we can both get going on that one soon! Legend is another one we share but I still need to get myself a copy of that one! For Darkness Shows the Stars looks & sounds amazing and is currently on the TBR shelf as well, but Forbidden Sea is a new one for me, I’m freaking out a little bit and also adding it to the pile asap haha Thanks for sharing ♥

  7. Yesss, Legend and For Darkness Shows the Stars! Loved both of those books. I think you’ll love Legend. :D I don’t think I’ve read any mermaid books at all, so I’m really excited to read Of Poseidon this summer. Awesome list!

    • Yey, so excited! I’m making sure to bring some of these on my travels this week for my 2 hours and 49 minute plane ride D:

  8. Of Triton is a short book. You’ll fly through it. Good luck with our reading challenges.

Such a great list. I still need to read Of Poseidon, so I would have to read that first ;) I alos really want to read Legend. I’ve heard so many good things about it. Good luck with your list!

  10. Ah ha! Though it may not look like it from my TTT, your TBR list here sounds a lot like mine! And I have a stack of mermaid books to get through as well :)

  11. Great list. All three of your TBR pile challenge books are also on my TBR, and all your mermaid books of course, except for Forbidden Sea, which I’ve already read. :D I’ll be interested to read your thoughts on Legend and For Darkness Shows the Stars.
    My TTT

    • Did you like Forbidden Sea?? I have requested it from the library again, so hopefully it’ll come in soon!

  12. You DEFINITELY have to read Poison Study! It’s soo good.
And I can’t wait to read Of Triton, I can stroke the gorgeous cover all day long.
    Great list Anya! :D

    My TTT

    • Hehe I will join you in cover stroking! Sometimes I just want to dive into a pile of the books on my shelf, they are all so pretty! But that would damage the covers D:

  13. Oh my gosh, that cover for Forbidden Sea is awesome! That’s one more mermaid book at to my wishlist. I’m looking forward to your thoughts on it (and I hope you like it). :)

    • Completely agreed! I had to return it to the library before I got to read it, so thank you for the reminder to put a hold on it so that I can actually read it this time. I read the first chapter right before I returned it, so I already know that I’m excited :D

  14. It’s cool that there’s a mermaid challenge. Weird that mermaids never took off like witches, vampires, and other supernatural fairytale creatures, eh?

    My TTT.

    • I know right? I’m hoping that it’s still coming because they are just so much fun to read about, even though I’m afraid of deep water and don’t much like swimming, I love to read about other people swimming, haha.

  15. Great top ten! Of Triton is on my TBR list too:)
