Top Ten Books I’m STILL Dying to Read

Top Ten Tuesday

Thanks to the gals over at The Broke and The Bookish for hosting this awesome meme!

I have a hard time getting to all of the books that I really want to read, and there are several that I know lots of people recommend that I just haven’t gotten to yet. I even have many of these on my shelf and eye them longingly. I keep putting them off because I have this goal of getting all my review books caught up (haha, yeah right) and so I would feel guilty to read one of the older books I bought to try to read…. But this is the list of somedays that are calling to me most strongly.

Physically on my shelf (i.e. no excuse!)

The Night Circus The Cloud Roads Legend The Way of Kings Girl of Fire and Thorns

There are actually a lot more than five now that I look through the shelves. This shows that at least I’ve reached the first step of getting ahold of a copy to read right? But seriously, I know, I’m not sure how these things happen! (Actually, I know exactly how this happened: review books.) I am going to try to devote a month to reading those non-review books that I’m dying to read.

Not on my shelf (yet)

The Archived For Darkness Shows the Stars Touch of Power Valkyrie Rising A Discovery of Witches

I’m working on fixing this, I swear! The Archived has gotten to the top of the to-buy list, Darkness and Touch of Power are on the way in the mail (making this cheating to have them in this section really, but oh well ;-) ). My mom has a copy of Discovery of Witches that I’m hoping to borrow >.>.

Do you know of a reading challenge that reads non-review books? I haven’t been around the blogging world long enough to have a lot of TBR for more than a year books, just lots of shelf books that I really want to read D:.

  1. YEAH, sweet selection of books here :D Starting with your ‘on your shelf’ picks, we share The Night Circus, Legend & The Way of Kings. I also have no excuse hahaha Girl of Fire & Thorns is one I do want to pick up soon though…

As for the books “not on your shelf yet’, I am desperate to get my hands on Touch of Power! I actually recently got Discovery of Witches but sadly I haven’t gotten to it yet! I’d also want to own The Archived and For Darkness Shows the Stars! I loved all your picks (as usual), thanks for sharing Anya ♥

    • Yey, it was so much fun making the list ;-) Omg you have to read Discovery of Witches, it’s about witches right??

  2. The Night Circus was a real disappointment: all style and no substance which needed a good editing and as for The Discovery of Witches . . . the author has been to the Bodlian Library in Oxford and describes it in endless, excruciating detail plus her depiction of British life is not very accurate so I gave up after a few chapters in disgust. I survive until the incredibly handsome vampire broke into the heroine’s home and watched her glowing while she was asleep: I kid you not! :(

  3. Valkyrie Rising might be one of my catch up reads…..if they screw it up, I’m gonna be SO mad….

    • Hehe, I hear yah! Every book on this list has so much expectation loaded on it now, so they better be great :D

  4. The Cloud Roads is definitely an awesome fantasy, as is that entire series. I recommend it!

    • Yey! I also need to read Cloud Roads so I can justify getting the second book because it is SO PRETTY

This post made me laugh because my list is almost the opposite of yours! I physically have The Archived, Valkyrie Rising, For Darkness Shows the Stars, Shadow of Night (the 2nd book in the Discovery of Witches series), and Prodigy. I need to borrow/buy Legend, The Night Circus and The Girl of Fire and Thorns! Too funny :) So many books, so little time…

  6. Ahhhh! So many GREAT books on this list! Legend, Night Circus, The Archived, For Darkness, Valkyrie Rising… But I own-and-haven’t-read The Way of Kings, too – that thing is intimidating!! I’m probably going to be making my (slow) way through it with my sister, like read a small section every week or something. I’m excited for it though!

    • Way of Kings is very intimidating! But I’m pretty sure I’m going to blow through it since I love Sanderson so much, haha.

  7. For Darkness Shows the Stars, and The Archived are both on my shelf and I still haven’t gotten to read them yet D= You should definitely read Legend though it was super awesome!

  8. OMG, definitely check out Valkyrie Rising! It was soo good and you’ll definitely fall in love with Tucker! I know I did. ;D

  9. The Archived was epic! Make that one of your next reads. Seriously! So goood!

  10. I keep letting review books win, too. Over the weekend I actually started a small pile of library books that I kept pushing aside in favor of my out-of-control backlist of review books. I really liked the Night Circus and am actually reading For Darkness now. The Girl of Fire and The Archived are both very high on my TBR pile. Great list!

    • Excellent news! I am going to be reading some mermaid library books that I picked up for the mermaid summer reading challenge, and then after those I think I’m going to try to tackle some of this list…. It’s just too awesome not to read!

  11. I just picked up Legend, I have heard it is really good!

  12. I really liked Legend, A Discovery of Witches, and For Darkness Shows the Stars so I hope you get to read them soon. Great list!

    • Yey, me too! I’m thinking about devoting July to this list and joining one of the TBR challenges…. it’s just sad when there are so many good books to read!

  13. I thought about doing something similar to this, because there are so many books that I feel like I should have read by now. Your list looks really good. I really liked Legend! The Night Circus, The Archived and A Discovery of Witches are on my TBR list.

    • I honestly made the list for myself a little bit so that I might have more luck getting everything read, haha!

  14. The Night Circus is one of my all time faves! Legend and For Darkness Shows The Stars were both amazing too.

    My Top Ten

    • For Darkness Shows the Stars just showed up in the mailbox, yey! I need to finish some other books and then I think I’ll start working on this list >.>

  15. I need to read Legend too, I keep hearing how good it is! :) Thanks for stopping by my TTT list!

  16. Valkyrie Rising and Discovery of Witches were both amazing!!!

    • Yey, that’s excellent to hear. I haven’t heard a lot about Valkyrie rising recently so I wasn’t sure if people still thought it was awesome ;-)

  17. Oh man. I’m very much looking forward to your thoughts about The Girl of Fire and Thorns, whenever you get around to reading it! It’s one of my favorite YA fantasy books/series.

    • I’ve heard so many great things, it’s paining me greatly that it and the sequel are just sitting there unread D:

  18. The Night Circus and The Way of Kings are both brilliant in their own unique ways. I’m thinking of re-reading The Way of Kings this fall in anticipation of an early 2014 release of the next book.

    • Gah, I must read Way of Kings before the next book comes out, it would hurt my Sanderson fan club pride otherwise ;-)

  19. Ooh, my boss keeps trying to get me to read a Discovery of Witches! For some reason I keep putting it off!

  20. All but two of those are on my TBR list as well. So many books, so little time. *sigh* Great list! :D
    My TTT

    • They all look so good right?? I think I’m going to start blocking out months with reading topics… last month was review books, this month is mermaids (:D), July will be books from the shelf I think… I actually really like this plan :D
