Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2013

Top Ten Tuesday

Thanks to the gals of The Broke and The Bookish for hosting this meme every week!

One of my favorite things about all of you is how many new books and authors I’ve discovered from reading reviews! Some of them I am way behind the times on, and some of them I got to read early, but it’s been a great year for new authors :D.

Freaking Finally!

Bitter Kingdom The Lies of Locke Lamora Wednesdays in the Tower Bang

It’s a bit embarrassing how behind I was on awesome fantasy series at the beginning of this year, haha. Fortunately, you all helped me by making me realize what I was missing! All of these series I started this year and had to catch-up asap because, really, how could I resist?? I’m so glad that I started blogging so that I could find all these awesome books!

Shiny Discoveries

Pawn Cracked Relativity

Then there are the books that I found through review copies :D. I met Carter at a book signing for Holly Black and was really excited to get Pawn in the mail a week later, so awesome! Cracked, Relativity, and And All the Stars were all NetGalley finds that I’m so glad I requested. I probably never would have found these books if it wasn’t for book review blogging :D.

What authors did you discover this year? Love any of these?? :D

  1. I loved Pawn, such a great start to a series and I can’t wait for the next one. I still really need to read some Leigh Bardugo, Marissa Meyer and Lisa McMann; I must get to their books in 2014. My TTT.

  2. Haha, I like your categories! Brandon Sanderson and China Mieville are some of the authors I’ve finally gotten to this year :) Pawn and Relativity both sounds so good, I hope to read them next year.

  3. What’s really embarrassing is that I’ve only read Marissa Meyer this year…out of ALL of these ^^ Leigh Bardugo was a high priority read for this year too! D’oh! Hopefully in 2014 hehe Rae Carson & Aimee Carter are also on my list of authors to check out asap! Wonderful list Anya :)

  4. Really great list, Anya! I like how you split it up. Pawn was one of my favorite books this year, but I couldn’t put Aimée on my list since I’ve read her previously, but Marissa Meyer made my list today too. Sadly, I haven’t yet gotten to Girl of Fire & Thorns, but I’m making it a 2014 read for sure!

  5. Oh man I really, really need to start The Lies of Locke Lamora soon – and read Rae Carson’s second and third books. I am also very curious about Cracked. Yay for Leigh Bardugo making your list. I’m definitely a fan of hers. :)

  7. YAY!! Cinder! So excited to see that you read it! Definitely an AMAZING book!
Ohhh! And Bang! I read and loved Crash, but haven’t had the chance to read it yet, so definitely looking forwards to check that out!

  8. Jessica @ a GREAT read says:

Ooh nice! I have enjoyed Aimee Carter since her first series. Although it seems to be pretty hit or miss with some bloggers. Pawn was great too! Nice list!

    • Yeah, I’ve heard that, I probably won’t read her first series since it isn’t quite my thing, but I’m excited to see what she does with the next one!

  9. I really want to read Jessica Day George’s Princess of the Midnight Ball. Marissa Meyer made it on my list also.

  14. I really need to get around to reading Shadow and Bone. I hope to finally get around to it in 2014!

  15. Marissa Meyer was new to me this year, too. I also found, and liked, Diana Peterfreund, Holly Black and the first Neil Gaiman book I’ve read and liked (out of 2, I think).

    • I feel horrible, I met Holly Black at a signing and am love with the little bit of Coldest Girl that she read and I know that I need to read the Curseworkers books (and have copies, signed copies!), but I just haven’t been able to fit them in… One of these days!

  16. Great list! Yay for Scott Lynch :D

  17. I am loving reading everyone’s lists! I really was surprised how much I loved Marissa Meyer.
