Top Ten Sequels I Can’t Wait To Get My Hands On

Top Ten Tuesday

Thanks to the gals of The Broke and The Bookish for hosting this meme every week!

So many sequels! I’ve been reading a lot of first books this year, so this is going to be hard to narrow down. I’m also going to be including sequels that I’ve already read but that I really want the hardcover of, since it will help me get my x-mas list started ;-).

Want to Read NAO!

Rebel by Amy Tintera Magic Breaks Where Silence Gathers Gasp Under Nameless Stars

I am very much dying to get my hands on these books. I just finished Reboot and really want to know what happens next in Rebel. Kate Daniels #6 was flipping amazing and so I can’t wait to jump back into her world in #7. I was so excited to hear that there would be a companion novel for Some Quiet Place since I have some questions left over, so that needs to happen asap. I just finished Bang a month ago and when Gasp’s cover was revealed I got so excited! A POC?! Gimme! While I wasn’t the biggest fan of Zenn Scarlett, that cover for Under Nameless Stars just pulls me in! I’m hoping that I like the sequel better ;-).

Read and Want a Preeeeetty Hardcover

Bang  Cress Days of Blood and Starlight The Deepest Night

Have no fear, I have definitely read these all already and loved them! I loved them so much that they have made it on to my hardcover wishlist (which is pretty hard to get on!). I actually need to get both Visions 1 and 2 since I listened to Crash on audio instead of reading a physical copy. I’m in the same boat for The Grisha series since I borrowed the first one from the library! I do own Cinder, but not Scarlet, so there are another two for the wishlist, haha. Similarly for DoS&B >.> sensing a pattern? I do own The Sweetest Dark! And I even have an ARC of The Deepest Night, but it doesn’t have the finished cover D: I must have pretty wave dress!

What are the sequels you’re eagerly awaiting? There were definitely so much more I could have added, such as Winter, Grisha #3, DoS&B #3, so many good books coming out next year!

  1. I’m reading Siege and Storm RIGHT NOW!

I’m excited about the Laini Taylor one – I read the first one and by the time I started the second one I’d forgotten almost everything, so once this one comes out I can just binge read the series.

    • Oo, yey! Are you liking it??

Understandable! The second one is a fair amount darker than the first though, just to warn you ;-)

      • I finished Siege & Storm and I do really like them! I wasn’t sure I would, because it sounded similar to other books, but it’s definitely a fresh twist (I think).

I’m excited – I can usually do dark! I had to quit Ilsa Bick’s Ashes (which I was loving) because there was a starving little girl and I have a little girl and couldn’t deal, but as long as it isn’t that or abduction I am okay :D

I still need to read Kate Daniels #6, but I am already looking forward to #7 & #8 and as many sequels as IA writes. :)
As you said, Zenn Scarlett wasn’t as awesome as I expected but there were some intriguing hints of future events and the fact that it will happen on a spaceship that make me look forward to Under Nameless Stars. And it does have wonderful cover.
And you got an ARC of Cress, you lucky duck! I can’t wait to read that one!
As for the rest, I still have to read book #1 until I join cant-wait-for-sequel team. But I hope to correct that mistake soon. Especially with Grisha series.

    • Hehe, you MUST reading Kate 6, I don’t say this often, but I literally couldn’t put it down. I stayed up waaaaay to late to finish and was totally okay with it ;-)

I’m having a giveaway for my ARC of Cress soon :D

      *throws Grisha at you immediately*

  3. The Cress cover is my favorite so far.

  4. Awesome picks! I can’t wait for When Silence Gathers, either. I loved Some Quiet Place.
And I still haven’t read The Deepest Night because I’ve been horrible with my Netgalley books…. but I really do want to read it and I know I’ll love it!!
I probably need to start on Cinder since I’ve seen Cress on just about every list today!

    • Haha, Oo, I didn’t realize The Deepest Night had been on NetGalley, must have been before I started crawling the newly added list every day >.>

  5. I don’t know too many of these books, but I have Where Silence Gathers on my list as well! The cover was so beautiful for the first book, and this one doesn’t disappoint either!

    • I have to admit I like Some Quiet Place’s cover better, but I’m so excited to find out more about that world :D

  6. Oh wow, there are soooo many books that I’d love to own a hard copy of that I borrowed from the library or read as an e-arc! Even if I got paperbacks of all of them there’s no way my bank account or my shelves would handle it xD

    • Haha, I know right! That’s why they’re all going on my wishlist, since then family can easily buy books for me, I don’t have to stress about the fact I haven’t read the books I got last holiday season, and I have more pretties for my shelf :D

  7. Jessica@a GREAT read says:

OOh nice picks! Haven’t read many of these series, although I tried Cinder and sadly it wasn’t for me. Hope you get these books soon! Obviously they all have different release dates, but you never know when a publisher might take pity on us bloggers and send an ARC! Fingers crossed for you! ;)

    Here’s my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower :)

    • Oh no! I wasn’t the biggest fan of Cinder, but Scarlet was even better. What didn’t you like about Cinder?

      • Jessica@a GREAT read says:

Oh it’s been sooo many books since I read Cinder. I think some of it how to do with the world building. I really cannot remember, I just didn’t feel totally wowed with it like all the reviews had been saying.

        • Fair enough! Like I said, I wasn’t wowed by Cinder either, perhaps from the hype, but have loved the rest of the series so far :)

  8. Great list. I really love the cover of Days of Blood and Starlight too. It was one of the first cover reveals I saw when I first started blogging and I was blown away by how beautiful it was. :D

    My TTT

    • I must admit that I wish the covers for that series reflected actual things in the series though… I mean, no one has those tattoos!

  9. Wow, I have read a book in a grand total of one of the series you spotlighted. That said I want the third Grisha too, despite not liking the second as much as the first. And I am pretty hooked on Danial Abraham’s Dagger and Coin at this point.

  10. There are so many continuing books for series that I want! Cress is for sure one of them, but also Infinite by Jodi Meadows! There’s many more that are coming out in 2014 that I can’t name all of them lol.

  11. kelpeterson says:

I think Lunar Chronicles is the only one of the above series I’ve read. A couple are on my to-read list and a couple I couldn’t get into, despite the pretty covers.

I am looking forward to Cress and am glad to hear you liked it. I’m curious; did you think the writing improved? I remember being frustrated with an increased amount of telling v. showing in Scarlet.

    • Which did you have trouble with?

I have to admit that I loved Scarlet even more than Cress, and I did find a slightly different style in Cress, but I didn’t notice a telling problem in Scarlet, so I can’t give an opinion on that for Cress :(

      • kelpeterson says:

I know I sat down one day and read, like, a page each of Daughter of Smoke & Bone and Shadow and Bone. It may have just been the reading mood I was in at the time, but I picked them up, said never mind, and moved on. Go figure.

And no worries. I run into very few people as picky as I in that regard (and very few people as picky as I in general ^^).

  12. Wow i haven’t checked many of these out but the covers are so pretty so i may have to!

  13. The sequel I am most excited about for this coming year is the second book in Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive series. I enjoyed The Way of Kings far more than I expected to and it has been a long wait for book two (of ten, sigh).
    Carl V. Anderson recently posted…Houston, I have a problem…My Profile

    • So agreed! I’m on the list for review copies and just keeping my fingers crossed! We’re going to have a read a long for Way of Kings in January to get prepped for the release date!

      • I will remember that so I can pass folks along to it. I hosted a read along for it a couple of years ago and want to do the new book with that same group, but I’m not up for hosting a Way of Kings read again and have had people asking.
        Carl V. Anderson recently posted…Houston, I have a problem…My Profile

        • Excellent! We’re thinking of starting early January, kind of want to start earlier, but don’t want to put people off by having readings during the holidays

  14. I am looking forward to Cress! I really like that series :)
