Updates from the Lair

Updates from the Lair is my weekly wrap-up post that includes what happened in my real life, what I’ve been reading, my posts from the week, and what I’m thinking about reading next week (and would love your advice on!).

Happy February all! This week unfortunately I’m traveling for a funeral, so this post will be a bit sparse and written really far in advance, thanks for understanding.

My Week

The ReaderI’m so thankful to have gotten to borrow an ARC of The Reader and I’m probably already done by the time you are reading this post. At the halfway point, I’m already in love. The writing, the magic, the world, the characters, all wonderful! Highly recommend you put this one on your lists.

BintiI started Binti on a whim when my previous book wasn’t clicking, and I like the bit I’ve read so far! I’m officially a Nnedi Okorafor fan after listening to The Book of Phoenix, so I’m excited to read more from her.

WinterI’m enjoying listening to Winter on audio still! I had a bit of confusion about miss hearing a word that changed a lot, but Twitter helped me figure it out ;-). That’s the trouble with audiobooks while driving, but still a great way to get through books I can’t otherwise fit in. I’m about halfway, so it’ll probably be another few weeks until I finish.

And in case you missed it, these were my posts this week:

Next Week’s Reading

(books up next on the reading list, thoughts?)

Black City Saint The Lyre Thief

Siren's Song Into the Dim Forest of Memory The Devil You Know Pieces of Hate A Voice on the Radio Double Blind

Since we’re roadtripping again, all the reading. I’m bringing along both my March ARCs, so hopefully I’ll have a chance to read both Black City Saint and The Lyre Thief. Then I have lots of options for eARCs, which do you think I should read?

Happy Reading!

  1. I haven’t read Winter yet, but I will. I enjoy her writing style.

  2. So glad you’re reading (well, listening to) Winter! I loved it; I hope you will too. A bunch of your other books are completely new to me… but I just added The Forest of Memory to my to-read list. Now I’m off to check out your Revisionary review!

  3. I loved Binti, so can’t wait to hear what you think of it.

  4. Audiobooks are awesome. I love them to pieces but you’re so right: sometimes you just need to SEE a word in order to get it. XD I’m glad you’re enjoying Winter so far though and I can’t wait to see how you make out with Into the Dim! Have a great week Anya^^ xx
