Updates from the Lair

Updates from the Lair is my weekly wrap-up post that includes what happened in my real life, what I’ve been reading, my posts from the week, and what I’m thinking about reading next week (and would love your advice on!).

Tomorrow’s my birthday!!!!!!! :D We’ve mostly been celebrating this weekend, so we went to see Deadpool and I get to open my presents this evening, but tomorrow is the actual official day ;-). I don’t tend to care that much about birthdays, but it’s fun to have an excuse to do fun things!

My Week

The Tale of Yin by Joyce ChngWe’re almost two weeks into The Tale of Yin and wow is this book a wonderful surprise. If you’re looking for quiet YA sci-fi/fantasy, this is an indie to check out. The writing is freaking gorgeous, the imagery breath-taking, and the themes very interesting to explore. Highly recommended so far!

A Natural History of DragonsI also dove in to A Natural History of Dragons this week and I have no idea why I waited so long to start this series!! Well, I do, and that is that I was worried I wouldn’t like it as much as I hoped. But I was silly to be worried ;-).

Alcatraz versus the Evil LibrariansFinally, I read Alcatraz vs. The Evil Librarians this week since I’m excited for this series re-release. It is definitely not Sanderson’s normal work, but it is a lot of fun if you like middle grade and snarky protagonists ;-). Also the new illustrations are so pretty!

And in case you missed it, these were my posts this week:

Next Week’s Reading

(books up next on the reading list, thoughts?)

Riders A Creature of Moonlight

This week I’m planning on reading Riders since I got a copy from Tor and it looks quite unique. I’ll also be buddy reading A Creature of Moonlight hopefully :D. I’m loving buddy reading to force me to actually read these books I’ve been meaning to for so long!

Happy Reading!
