Hello all! It’s been a less than productive week for me, but books always fix that right? :D We went to the zoo this weekend though, I love animals! This was the first time at this zoo though and some of the enclosures were depressingly small. Anywho, there have been so many awesome books in my life this week, which is going to make my upcoming school a little tricky! This coming week I’m starting my qualifying examinations for my PhD which at my college involves reading five academic papers and writing a synthesis paper of them. I’m getting the papers on Monday and have to turn in my paper at the end of the month, wish me luck!
I loved The Sweetest Dark, so I was really excited to get The Deepest Night from LibraryThing! I didn’t love it quite as much as the first book since the plot was focused more on historical things than magical things, but it was still enjoyable. I think people who didn’t like the romance aspect of the last book will like this one more :D.
I also am reading Elysian Fields from Netgalley and loving it! I had trouble with the first in this series, loved the second, and the third is doing great so far. It’s breaking the problem of many UF in that there are actually significant changes happening in DJ’s life and I’m wondering how things are going to end up.
I got Coded Born in the mail this week and was soooo excited! Jim C. Hines is one of my favorite authors, and now I will have a chance to read this one before going to the signing in my area :D. I’m quite liking it so far, especially because we’re getting a lot of insight into Lena (which is appropriate since she’s on the cover, hehe).
And in case you missed it, these were my posts this week:
I reviewed Ink by Amanda Sun and gave it 3.5 stars, it was pretty but meh.
I discussed my Top Ten Favorite Book Beginnings and Endings
The Hatching earned 4 stars and got me excited about the first book!
You can win a copy of The Thinking Woman’s Guide to Real Magic still!
I gave Forbidden Sea 3 stars for a distracted plot line.
Reports from Other Lairs
I had to switch feed readers half way through this week since The Old Reader decided to boot Google Reader refugees…. I’m now using InoReader and like it a lot. But that means that I didn’t get to keep up with posts as much as I usually do, so I only have one link for you. It’s a fun one though :D
Emperor of Thorns from Bookworm Blues (143/5 stars, adult) Technically it’s not a review ;-)
