Updates from the Lair

This week, this week, this week…. My classes have a very heavy reading load both, I’m trying not to yell at a guy in my class every time we have group discussion, I’m trying not to panic about my qualifying oral exam (on Wednesday!), and I’m determined to keep reading because otherwise I will go crazy. I’m definitely going to be taking a break from work as soon as I’m done with my exam, and then it’s read-a-thon time!

My Week

Red Seas Under Red Skies

I’ve started Red Seas Under Red Skies on audiobook this week! I freaking love Michael Page, his voice acting is amazing. I thought about reading this one in a physical book, but I just couldn’t resist and had Audible credits to use ;-). I’m both excited to read my eARC of the third book and sad that I won’t be listening to it. In any case, this one has a very interesting start and keeps getting me all teary eyed based on references to THAT ending >.>. Also I want to meet Sabitha now! She’s a ghost isn’t she?

I’m about 2/3 to 3/4 through Kinslayer. I am loving it much more than Stormdancer, Kristoff’s writing has improved marvelously, but Kinslayer is quite heavy. I had to force myself to keep reading today and I’m glad I did since I am enjoying it a lot, there are just lots of depressing/gross bits. I’m hoping for a really epic ending though :D.

These Broken Stars

I’m reading These Broken Stars with a couple of friends on Goodreads and am quite excited to see where it goes. I’m happy that YA has gotten some old-fashioned spaceship sci-fi going ;-). I didn’t realize it was a dual POV, but it’s working all right for me.

And in case you missed it, these were my posts this week:

Brandon Sanderson has a novellette called Defending Elysium out and I just wish it was longer :D.

I’ve decided to do a Book Title Alphabet Challenge and you all were really helpful with finding the last couple!

The Thinking Woman’s Guide to Real Magic was disappointing and way too long.

This week I’ve gotten into ARC Trading and I want your thoughts.

Magic Marks the Spot is the first in a piratical MG that had me giggling quite a lot ;-).

I’m tackling my TBR over the next week or so!

  1. Many have wondered if Sabitha was a ghost or not. Supposedly, Book 3 is suppose to answer that question. Hooray for eARCs!

  2. Thanks so much for adding my Relativity review! :D I hope you’re enjoying These Broken Stars! There’s a lot of twists and suspense I love in it and I’m excited to hear more of what you think of it. I’m not big on dual points of view, but I thought it worked in the book too. :)

  3. I agree Kinslayer is so much heavier than Stormdancer was! I’m looking forward to These Broken Stars! Man do you have a full plate
