Updates from the Lair 4/17/16

Updates from the Lair

Updates from the Lair is my weekly wrap-up post that includes what happened in my real life, what I’ve been reading, my posts from the week, and what I’m thinking about reading next week (and would love your advice on!).

I got a crazy amount of reading done while traveling around Minnesota this week, like four books! But the real highlight of the week is my first attempt at polymer clay crafting (it’s actually purple, just camera just can’t handle the purple apparently):

My Week

Sophie QuireI’m in the middle of Sophie Quire and the Last Storyguard for my ebook and wow this book is awesome! It’s the perfect kind of middle grade with that whimsical tone and a bit of snark and tongue-in-cheek plus unique magic. Loving so much!

Half LostMy heart! I just finished the audiobook of Half Lost and wow what an ending to this trilogy. I can’t recommend this trilogy enough. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so invested in a romantic plot line or felt so connected to such a troubled main character.

Roses and RotI also finished Roses and Rot and it’s lovely! Really beautiful writing and plenty of fantasy and magic. I was worried there wouldn’t be a lot of magic or anything, but I was so wrong.

Scrivener's BonesI also finished Scrivener’s Bones the second book in the Alcatraz series. So much fun! Definitely recommend this series for fans of snarky middle grade :D.

And in case you missed it, these were my posts this week:

Next Week’s Reading

(books up next on the reading list, thoughts?)

The Rook The City's Son A Green and Ancient Light

I grabbed The Rook from the library since the sequel surprised me in my mailbox and I need to catch up! It looks like a fun series. I also have The City’s Son to read if I finish my current e-book. What do you all think of that one? Finally, I got all my May ARCs read, so I’m starting on June since the next couple months are going to be crazy. I think I’ll start with A Green and Ancient Light :D.

Happy Reading!

    • Thanks :D Yes, Alcatraz just keeps getting better, I wanted to jump right into book three and I never do that!

  2. Hey Anya! I haven’t been by in a while, but I like to stop in and glance over the blog. You have been SUPER BUSY!!!

The dragon is so adorable! Clay is something I struggle to work with, but if that is your first time, you have a natural talent for it!

    • Thanks :D I ended up adding horns and fixing up some details, so I think it is a good first attempt, though obviously now I want to fix it all
