Updates from the Lair 6/21/15

Updates from the Lair

Updates from the Lair is my weekly wrap-up post that includes what happened in my real life, what I’ve been reading, my posts from the week, and what I’m thinking about reading next week (and would love your advice on!).

Oof I’m tired this week loves! We’ve been driving all around Minnesota seeing family and such which is nice but of course rather exhausting. We found a wedding venue that we love and picked a date though! And I got to see some old friends from college that I hadn’t seen since they graduated (ie five years ago!), so that’s always nice. I’ve gotten a fair amount of reading done during the driving, but I haven’t been stressing to get every bit in and instead have napped and chatted with the husband some like a real vacation!

Also things will probably get a bit quieter on the blog for the next few weeks since I’ll be traveling to ALA and then back to Minnesota. There will still be reviews, but if I miss a day or two don’t worry ;-). I’ll be sure to snag some great giveaway books for you all :-P.

My Week

Nightborn by Lou AndersMy main read this week has been Nightborn which is the sequel to Frostborn. It’s a fun middle grade with male and female main characters off adventuring and defying stereotypes. There is cool norse mythology and some Roman inspiration thrown in this book. This is a great series for younger readers especially if you are looking for a book that boys and girls can both enjoy.

ResonanceMy other read this week has been Resonance. I haven’t gotten all that far in since I’ve been sticking to physical books, but I’m quite enjoying it all the same! I’m thinking now that I’ve finished Nightborn, I’ll probably just tear through this one ;-).

And in case you missed it, these were my posts this week:

Next Week’s Reading

(books up next on the reading list, thoughts?)

Earth Flight by Janet Edwards The Fold

I can resist Earth Flight no longer! I’m at the point where I know that any other book I read will have unfair expectations since I’d want it to be Earth Flight, ha. So that is my read for the drive home I think! If I finish it (which I might given how excited I am!), I think I’ll jump right into The Fold to keep the awesome sci-fi vibe going :D.

Happy Reading!

  3. A REAL vacation? With napping and chatting? What is this absurdity of which you speak? ;) But seriously, I’m glad you had a chance to relax and rest up, especially before tearing off for ALA. Can’t wait to see all the pictures! (Don’t be like me and forget to take pictures of everything and everyone. ;) )

I think I’ve been keeping up with your Resonance updates? But what do you think of it so far? I haven’t read the first book, BUT STILL. HAVE FUN ON YOUR VACATION :D

    • HAHA Wedding!

I read Resonance during the weird break so didn’t update much, sorry! It was slower than I had been hoping but still fun enough. I ended up giving it three stars because of how much it dragged and my expectations were probably way too high :(

  7. At least you’re getting some reading time with all of the driving, and time with your husband of course. That’s good that you got to see friends and found a wedding venue. Enjoy your vacation and your travels!

  8. Driving around IS both fun AND exhausting, so your tiredness is totally understandable :) I’m glad you guys picked a venue and date for the wedding and that you got to see some old friends ♥ I hope you have a total blast at ALA!! Don’t forget to take some pictures :D
