Updates from the Lair 7/26/15

Updates from the Lair

Updates from the Lair is my weekly wrap-up post that includes what happened in my real life, what I’ve been reading, my posts from the week, and what I’m thinking about reading next week (and would love your advice on!).

Hello lovely people! I’ve had a pretty typical week except for one big announcement: Brandon Sanderson is coming to my local indie store in October!!!!!!! :D I’m so pumped! I’ve met him once before but it was just a signing so I didn’t get to hear him speak and I freaking can’t wait! He seemed so nice at the signing and I would love to hear a more in-depth Q&A or whatever he decides to talk about :D. Let me know what questions I should ask ;-).

My Week

A Nearer MoonI read A Nearer Moon rather spontaneously this week and since it was such a short book, I’m already done! It is quite cute, though not as whimsical as I was hoping from the cover ;-). It’s still a nice read about sisters and water sprites though :D.

Supervillains AnonymousMy next e-read has been Supervillains Anonymous and it is lots of fun! I read the first book last year and it had such a killer cliffhanger that I had to request book two ;-). It’s fun to be finding out more about this tongue-in-cheek superhero-filled world and Gail is a great MC!

PrudencePrudence is my current audio and oh man it is so fun! Rue is freaking hilarious and her friends are absolutely great. The narration is also FABULOUS making it a super addicting listen. I definitely found myself vacuuming more than strictly necessary to keep listening :D. I don’t know what I’m going to do when I finish and have to wait for book two D:.

And in case you missed it, these were my posts this week:

Next Week’s Reading

(books up next on the reading list, thoughts?)

His Majesty's Dragon Walk on Earth a Stranger Villain Keeper

I bought the audio of His Majesty’s Dragon since that seemed the easiest way to fit it in and I’m so excited to start it next! I also think it’s time for me to get started on September eARCs so I’ll be starting Walk on Earth a Stranger as soon as I finished my current e-read. Finally, I’m between physical books now so I think I’ll read Villain Keeper since the author was lovely and sent me a finished copy with the pretty illustrations :D. Do you approve of my reading plan? ;-)

Happy Reading!

  1. Lucky! I almost met Sanderson once…until it snowed. :P

I’m in the middle of Walk on Earth a Stranger right now and enjoying it so far. And Superheroes/Villains sound like fun! I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for them. :)

  2. That’s so neat about the Brandon Sanderson event! You’ll have to let us know how that goes after it happens. ;)

Oooooh, looking forward to reading your thoughts on the Naomi Novik and Rae Carson books. I haven’t read Rae Carson’s first trilogy yet. Have you? If you did, what did you think of it?

  6. I’ve had His Majesty’s Dragon on my TBR for a few years now. Keep forgetting to actually read it (mostly because I keep forgetting I OWN it until it appears on someone else’s reading list. *laughs* ). Hope it’s a good one!

And lucky you about Brandon Sanderson!

    • Haha I know that feeling! I have from time to time gone through my Goodreads to keep it up to date just to keep from buying multiple copies of the same book!

  7. I can’t wait to hear about the Brandon Sanderson event! I just got copies of His Majesty’s Dragon and Walk the Earth a Stranger and can’t wait to read them as well. Have a great week!

    • Yey, I’m so pumped! We should make sure we each actually read His Majesty’s Dragon instead of just talk about it each week ;-)
