Updates from the Lair 7/28/13

Updates from the Lair
Oh my god, where did July go??? This is so not fair, I’m not ready for August yet D: . I was actually debating whether I’d do an update this week since my feed reader died in the middle of the week so I have only a couple of links to share :(. It was a bit liberating not to have feeds to check, but I hadn’t caught up from being out of town at that time and so this just put me further behind on the times! Oh well, you still get to hear about my week ;-).

My Week

River Road by Suzanne Johnson

I read the second of the Sentinels of New Orleans this week and loved it so much more than the first! There was still a lot of similarities to other UF series, but the writing was much snappier and the mystery was one I couldn’t figure out until the twist :D. I definitely recommend continuing with this series if you had the same hang-ups as I did about the first book ;-).

The Hatching by Liesel K. Hill

I also found the time to read the short story The Hatching by Liesel K. Hill. This was a great short story since it left me wanting to read the first book so bad! So whenever there is a review copy available Liesel, you know where to find me ;-).

The White Forest

I finally got White Forest in the mail this past week (I was getting worried it had gotten lost D:), and got to start it! It’s been described as a “moody gothic tale” and I think that that fits quite well so far. It has a “classic” tone, as in the slower, proper tone that I expect from classics ;-). Jane gets these weird sensory flashes when objects are around her though, and hopefully it will help her solve her friend’s disappearance!

The Thinking Woman's Guide to Real Magic

I also got to start The Thinking Woman’s Guide to Real Magic on my Kindle! I got this one from NetGalley a couple weeks ago, but I don’t think I’m going to be able to make the publication date. I’ll just get as close as I can ;-). But! I got an email about a possible giveaway for this one, something you all would be interested in??

And in case you missed it, these were my posts this week:

    • Yes! And don’t get turned off if you don’t love the first book, I loved the second and third much more ;-).

  2. I didn’t know your MOM did that review! That is so sweet!!

    • Hehe, yup! She likes to review most of her books for me and I share review copies with her ;-) Win win!

Looks like you got to read some good books this week! I hope you enjoy The Thinking Woman’s Guide to Magic!

  4. Thanks for linking to me! :D

I know what you mean about July just flying by! It was weird enough to see the end of June and know that the year was half over, but now we’re creeping toward the end of summer. The downside to getting older, I think; when you’re young, months seem to last forever, but when you’re an adult, they go by so quickly you can miss them if you blink!

    • Omg I know! June went by too fast too D: And now there is only one more month until I have to start classes again *cries* But then I’ll be happy that time passes quickly, hehe

  5. Thanks so much for adding my review of Doon! :) I know, I’m not ready for August yet, either!
