Updates from the Lair 8/14/16

Updates from the Lair

Updates from the Lair is my weekly wrap-up post that includes what happened in my real life, what I’ve been reading, my posts from the week, and what I’m thinking about reading next week (and would love your advice on!).

Wow, what a week! I had 12 hour days of straight seminars and networking for this week’s conference and I’m seriously worn out. It was really really productive in terms of research and grad school and future job opportunities, but I want to take a week off to recuperate. I got a tiny bit of reading done before crashing into sleep each night, ha.

My Week

Magic BindsI’ve actually made great progress on Magic Binds and am really really enjoying it! It speaks to how much I was enjoying it since I gave up precious hours of sleep this week to read just a bit more ;-). I suspect I’ll finish shortly.

The Dragon LordsI am listening to The Dragon Lords on audio and loving it. It is so funny and just the perfect blend of satire and fun fantasy story. The narration really adds to it too since silly drunken speeches sound way more entertaining with a good narrator!

And in case you missed it, these were my posts this week:

Next Week’s Reading

(books up next on the reading list, thoughts?)

The Last Adventure of Constance Verity Congress of Secrets

I yet again have no real idea what I’m going to be reading next. However, I think I’ll give The Last Adventure of Constance Verity a try and I also want to check out Congress of Secrets. Have you read either?

Happy Reading!

  1. Congress of Secrets is on my TBR. I loved Masks and Shadows, and that cover art is freaking gorgeous.

  3. Congress of Secrets is definitely on my radar. I also want to read Ghost Talkers (Mary Robinette Kowal), which I think I’m going to have to buy because none of my libraries appears to be getting it.
