Oof, the semester has started! I turned in the written portion of my month-long qualifying examination and now have to start prepping for the oral presentation and examination *gulp*. I’m also taking two classes and trying hard to get ahead and stay ahead on the homework. That means I’ve been doing much more academic reading than fun reading, I’m behind on my blog reading, and I’m so behind on posts and commenting, sorry! D: It’s also my two-year anniversary with the boy this weekend, so it seems I should probably hang out with him a bit, hehe.
I’m trying to get through the ARC pile I have for September despite my lack of reading time. I’m working on Magic Marks the Spot right now and I will admit, it is so cute! There is a very tongue-in-cheek style humor, with pirates needing to file paperwork for their pirating despite the navy’s inclination to then chase them down. The finishing school has dancing sheep as their letter head, and there is a postal boat that delivers mail to pirate ships. There is also a talking gargoyle who is a bit of a romantic. I can’t get over how amused I am at this book :D.
I’m also reading Full Blooded on the Kindle since it was on NetGalley a couple weeks ago. I had read the short story a year ago, so I was excited to get to read the first full book. I’m a bit bogged down in info dumps right now, and the dialogue being used for more info dumping is driving me a bit nuts. Anyone know if that gets better?
And in case you missed it, these were my posts this week:
I’m giving away my ARC of The Bitter Kingdom, you still have time to enter!
We discussed our favorite secondary characters this week in TTT!
The Crown of Embers had a bit of second book syndrome for me, but it was still enjoyable.
I had to jump on the bandwagon for Jamie’s A to Z survey, so much fun!
I gave The Bitter Kingdom 4.5 stars this week, very nearly perfectly awesome ;-).
And that’s it this week since I haven’t had a chance to go through all my feeds D:
