Updates from the Lair 9/13/15

Updates from the Lair

Updates from the Lair is my weekly wrap-up post that includes what happened in my real life, what I’ve been reading, my posts from the week, and what I’m thinking about reading next week (and would love your advice on!).

Yey for normal weeks! We got back from Minnesota at about midnight Sunday evening, so it was nice having Labor Day to get unpacked, do laundry, etc. Since then I’ve been a busy graduate student and am quite happy with how the first chapter draft of my dissertation is shaping up! I got a lot of reading done during the road trip and caught up with writing those reviews, so I’m feeling shockingly on top of things (once I answer comments that is ;-) ).

My Week

The Fifth SeasonOh this audiobook is so wonderful! Since I had to drive back to campus, I got to listen to more of The Fifth Season this week and things are getting crazy! I’m sad at how little I listen to audiobooks these days since it’s pretty much just once a week, but at the same time it means that I’m really savoring this one so I guess it’s fine ;-).

Whispered Visions by Tammy BlackwellMy current eARC is Whispered Visions and I’m loving it so so much! You all seriously need to check out this series, it is fantastic. I just love the unique ways that Blackwell handles character interactions. You can really tell that she hangs out with teenagers every day because of how deeply realistic her characters are. There is just something that hits you deep in the gut when a character is spot on ya know? *swoons*

The Rose SocietyIt’s finally time for me to read The Rose Society!! You should all be happy since that means I’ll be giving away this signed copy soon too ;-). I’m really loving getting back into this world and remembering all the crazy stuff that happened at the end of The Young Elites! I’m pumped to find out what happens next since everything is just a mess, ha.

And in case you missed it, these were my posts this week:

Next Week’s Reading

(books up next on the reading list, thoughts?)

Last First Snow

As if I wasn’t reading enough books at the moment, we’re starting our read-along of Last First Snow this week! You’re welcome to join us if you’d like, the first post will be tomorrow, but there’s time to catch up ;-).

Happy Reading!

  5. YAY normal weeks! I like change sometimes but when everything has been change and travel and distractions, there is nothing better than ROUTINE :D Sigh.

Oh man, the Rose Society. I STILL HAVEN’T READ THE YOUNG ELITES!!! Like whaaa?! O.O Sometimes it feels like, despite reading books and books for years and years, there are still ALL the books out there NOT read, you know?! I hope you love Rose Society!! xx

    • Exactly! When most of your weeks are weird, it gets super old ha.

Oh I know exactly what you mean! Though the more books that come out that I want to read, the pickier I become since I realize I only have so much time ;-)

  6. Yay for being back on track – I love that feeling and we did the same on Labor day – cleaned a bit and just relaxed and that was nice :) I used to listen to audiobooks on my commute but I only have 15 minutes now so it is hard to listen in the car. I need to listen more while I’m at work.

    • I’m so jealous that you can listen at work! I can barely concentrate with music on sometimes since I have to write so often ha
