Updates from the Lair

Updates from the Lair is my weekly wrap-up post that includes what happened in my real life, what I’ve been reading, my posts from the week, and what I’m thinking about reading next week (and would love your advice on!).

Hello everyone! The last two weeks have been a bit exciting and I’m still trying to catch up a bit. I have a lot of reviews to write since I got a lot of reading done while traveling last week, but I’m not sure when I’ll be able to write them up :(.

My Week

The Obelisk GateI’m listening to The Obelisk Gate on audiobook and loving it so much! This series is so amazing and I wasn’t sure how things could get more epic after the first book, but they are!!!! You definitely need to read The Fifth Season if you haven’t and if you like audiobooks, that is also an excellent choice.

A Familiar TailI also decided to start reading some paranormal cozy mysteries since they remind me of autumn so much. I’m halfway through A Familiar Tail and finding it a lovely break from the more intense stories I often read. Do you read paranormal cozies?

And in case you missed it, these were my posts this week:

Next Week’s Reading

(books up next on the reading list, thoughts?)

The Knights of Crystallia The Magician's Key

I’m planning to read some more middle grade this week to keep things easier as I get back on track with work. I’m still making my way through Alcatraz and the Evil Librarians series and loving it, so very excited to read the next! Second I have the sequel to one of my favorite MG from last year: The Magician’s Key :D.

Happy Reading!

  1. Yay! I’m glad you’re liking the cozies so far. A Familiar Tale is one of my favorites in the genre, but there are a lot of good ones and it’s hard to choose! *laughs*

  3. I haven’t read paranormal cozies before, but it sounds perfect for my current reading mood. Bring on the recommendations!

Good luck catching up on things! I always wonder if it’s worth going out of town when you’ll just have to scramble to get everything back on pace when you return. :P

  5. Yay! So glad that you’re enjoying The Obelisk Gate! I loved it just as much as I loved The Fifth Season and am now super nervous-excited about the finale next year. Pretty sure it’s going to destroy my emotions. XD :s

Btw I’m more than halfway through Traci Chee’s The Reader, and am LOVING it so far. :D

  6. I need to read the fifth season still – it’s in my radar. Didn’t realize it was also good on audio – that will help me get to it faster.

Have a great week settling back in at work :)

  7. I didn’t realize that The Magician’s Key was a series, so I have to get the first one read soon! :) Have a great week.

  8. I really need to hurry up and read The Fifth Season. I’ve read The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, which wasn’t quite what I expected but still good, and my book group chose The Fifth Season as a BOTM before. I’ve heard a lot more about that one though, so I reckon I’ll enjoy it :)
