Updates from the Lair

Oofda, I am drained. I had my Impromptu Readathon yesterday which was really freaking fun and productive, but switching from “my only goal today is to read” to “oh right, now I have to do those other weekend things” is kind of difficult. There is something so soothing about having one specific focus for an entire day. I’m still making lists of books that I want to read today, which I must resist. There is this temptation now since I know that if I did nothing but read for a day, I could knock a whole in my immediate TBR pile, but the real world is so demanding ;-). Can you tell I’m in a weird mood? >.>

My Week

Bitterblue

There were so many books this week due to the readathon that I just talk about them all. Therefore, I’ll talk about what I’m still in the middle of and starting today! I just hit a crazy heavy part of Bitterblue where we find out what was really going on previously and omg the pain. It just hurts my heart :(. But it makes the crazy behavior make a lot more sense and asks some hard philosophical questions. I should be finishing this one this week since I only have like 3 hours left to listen to.

The thief

I’ve gotten the impression that my life is not complete since I haven’t read The Thief (and accompanying series, but let’s start small), therefore I started it during the read-a-thon and plan to finish it this week as a nice transition back into regular reading mode. I’m disappointed since I for some reason thought The Thief was a girl, and apparently is a boy, but I’ll get over that part ;-).

Fragile Brilliance

I have been hopefully waiting for a review copy of Fragile Brilliance for weeks and am very excited to have gotten an email containing an eARC this morning! Therefore, I shall be reading this one this week and reviewing asap. All the love.

And in case you missed it, these were my posts this week:

Here are some awesome discussions you should check out :D

Discussions

I’m just collecting challenges this week apparently >.>. I’m signing up for the 2014 Review Pile Reading Challenge, since it’s what I would be doing anyway; the 2014 Series Reading Challenge, since some are books I would be reading anyway and there are pretty badges; the Novemberthon to keep the readathon love going this week; and the End of Year 2013 Cram Read-a-thon!

Novemberthon Goals:

Since I don’t really have a better place to post this, these are the books I’m aiming at reading this week during Novemberthon!

  • Fragile Brilliance
  • The Thief
  • Bitterblue
  • Scent of Magic

And that will complete all my November goals! Wouldn’t that be awesome?? I am flying back home for T-day so there will be plenty of airport reading time, woot.

Happy Reading!

I’ve been wanting to really read the Graceling series. I’ve heard good things about it.

Good luck with your books this week!

    • Oo, dooooo iiit! They are really fun fantasy. Graceling and Fire have pretty similar storylines, but Bitterblue brings it all together in crazy awesomeness :D

      • Jenn @ A Glo-Worm Reads says:

I just need to get a hold of a copy of Fire..lol I have both Graceling and Bitterblue just waiting :)

        • Hehe, you can definitely read Graceling without Fire, though Bitterblue would be better having read Fire. But the first two can be any order :D

  2. Congrats on making it through the read-a-thon! And I will definitely be steering clear of Bitterblue for a while. Just not enough energy or brain power to tackle anything that heavy and philosophical right now. Maybe after Christmas. But good luck finishing it, and safe traveling!

  3. I like that you set goals for yourself, I wish I was that organised! Have a good week.
