Updates from the Lair

Updates from the Lair is my weekly wrap-up post that includes what happened in my real life, what I’ve been reading, my posts from the week, and what I’m thinking about reading next week (and would love your advice on!).

I was so productive this weeeeeeek! (Watch me crash, pow!) I finished a few books and got lots done at work and for classes, yey :D. I’m seriously exhausted but really happy with myself. Normally I have at least one day a week where I sleep about twelve hours for no real reason, but I got up on time every day this week, I’m seriously impressed with myself ;-).

My Week

Infinite Harmony by Tammy BlackwellI absolutely devoured Infinite Harmony this week! This is a companion novel in the Shifters & Seers series about an Immortal who we fell in love with in the previous book and a girl with cystic fibrosis. I cried a lot not because of really sad things happening to Ada, but because of the deeply moving discussions about life, death, religion, and growing up. I also laughed my butt off because Tammy Blackwell is a true nerd and gets my humor so well ;-). Seriously all, I know I push her books frequently, but they are so awesome! (The cover is linked to GR, go go go!)

Captive by Aimee CarterI also started Captive this week :D. I got a bit distracted by Infinite Harmony ripping out my heart, but I’m back to making progress and getting back into this dangerous world. I’m happy to report the labyrinth on the cover has a very important role! The beginning has been a bit slow, but I think I’ll get into the action very soon ;-).

And in case you missed it, these were my posts this week:

Next Week’s Reading

(books up next on the reading list, thoughts?)

The Iron Trial Princess of Thorns Thursdays with the Crown

I missed The Iron Trial’s release date, but Scholastic sent me a lovely hardcover so I want to get to it this week. I’m thinking I’ll probably go on a middle grade binge since the three middle grade I got from BEA are all coming out the beginning of October and I just love middle grade fantasy a lot >.>. I also started the first page of Princess of Thorns and have decided it’ll be my next at the gym book because it is awesome! :D (Also I’ll be giving away the physical ARC I have this week!!)

Happy Reading!

  1. Wow, more curious about the reads for next week. There’s 2 out of 3 where I’m really interested to see how they are :D

    • I really shouldn’t have made that joke since that is completely what happened to me this week D: But if I can go back and forth between productive and less productive, that’s at least something ;-)

  3. Yay for ripping out hearts! :)

  4. I’m glad you were more productive than I was this week. I feel like I didn’t get anything done, at least on my blog. I do have a few posts ready to go for next month, but nothing for THIS week. At least I got stuff done around the house though.

I’m not really a fantasy reader but I’ve been thinking of trying out some middle grade fantasy. I’m still looking for the right book.

    • I totally hear you about having posts for later but not this week. I feel like all the reviews I’ve been doing can’t be posted for at least a month so I don’t have very many reviews for the next couple of weeks D: Hence the middle grade binge though, hehe. Though now that you mention it, I really need to clean around the house too >.> crap!

  5. See, when someones says this book stomped on my heart I usually avoid it, but I like the sound of humor too. Oh, I loved Iron Trials! Have I told you that before? Princess of Thorns looks great too! Congrats on having a good week! :)
