Waiting on… Feathers and Flame, Talon, The Glass Sentence

Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine!

Adorable dragons are necessary for everything, but this one is keeping her eye out for more awesome books :D

This week is going to be another week of cover-less books since the books I heard about this week are too new to have covers yet ;-).

Feathers and Flame by Melissa Grey: “First in a YA trilogy about Echo, a pickpocket runaway adopted and raised in New York City by a race of creatures with feathers for hair and magic in their veins. The series follows Echo as she becomes involved in an ancient war and a centuries-old love, and discovers startling truths about the world she lives in.”

Thieves + creatures with feathers + magic?? So exciting! I just hope the centuries-old love isn’t too bothersome ;-).

Talon by Julie Kagawa“The series revolves around dragons with the ability to disguise themselves as humans and an order of warriors sworn to eradicate them. The dragons of TALON and the Order of St. George have been at war with each other for centuries. The fabled creatures, whose existence is unknown by the general public, are determined to rule the world. Their foes, a legendary society of dragon slayers, are equally bent on driving the fabled beasts into extinction. However, when a young dragon and a hardened slayer unknowingly befriend each other, it has severe repercussions for both organizations.”

*swoon* You had me at dragons really. Plus Julie Kagawa <3!! Wouldn’t be awesome if the young dragon and hardened slayer STAYED friends and didn’t fall in love? Please can that be a thing??

The Glass Sentence by S. E. Grove“Set in an alternate reality, the story follows a 13-year-old girl who lives in Boston, circa 1891, in a world that has been “remade by the Great Disruption of 1799, when all of the continents were flung into different time periods.” When the heroine’s uncle, and the city’s leading cartologer, is kidnapped, she sets off, with a new friend, to find him.”

So historical sci-fi? I’m just so intrigued by this Great Disruption idea *happy dance* and what is a cartologer? Cartographer + astrologer???

Link me up! What are you excited about this week? Hear of anything new??

  1. Awesome choices!

  2. All these books sound very good. I think I’m most interested in The Glass Sentence and Feathers and Flame. I’m a little leery of the dragon book since I don’t usually like books about two factions fighting each other, but I do like Julie Kagawa! I think your comment about them staying friends would be great if it happens.

    • The presence of dragons definitely bumps Talon up my list too haha. I’m very intrigued by The Glass Sentence and Feathers and Flame though, just such unique premises!

  3. Woah, all of these sound awesome! I knew Kagawa had a new series come out but missed the final reveal of it. She can do vampires and fae, why shouldn’t she be good with dragons?
Feathers and Flame appeals most to be though. Pickpocket, runaway, magic in their veins… you’ve got me ;) Reminds me a bit of Valiant by Holly Black or Kiki Hamilton’s The Faerie Ring. Definitely going on my TBR :)
Thanks so much for sharing these!
