WWW Wednesday #21

WWW

I apparently need to learn to stagger my books better. If I start two books at about the same time, then, I’ll… ya know… end them at the same time. Hence the plethora of bookish news this week!

What did you recently finish reading?

I finished two books! This is, again, because I started two books at the same time and they both were a bit long. Why was I reading two books at the same time you ask?? Well, Fire wasn’t actually a reading book, it was an audiobook ;-). And may I just say, wow that was an amazing narrator! If you haven’t read Fire and like audiobooks, go find the audiobook now! It’s freaking awesome. Second Skin, Too was a review book that I received a while ago and took too long to get to, but I’m proud to say I’m finally done with that round of books! Now I’m only kind of behind :D. So expect some reviews on those coming in a couple weeks (because I’m all ahead on review posts right now :D).

What are you currently reading?

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

Bam, progress! So I’m almost half way through Mark of the Witch now, so hopefully I’ll finish that this week (another review book). I needed to start a for me book, since I was going a bit crazy, so The Lost Hero was up! I had borrowed it from a friend a few weeks ago, and I don’t like borrowing things indefinitely, so it’ll be good to return it to her soon :D. I’m loving it so far! I naturally needed another audiobook, since I finished Fire, and Daughter of Smoke and Bone caught my eye, since I had heard so many good things about it around the blogosphere!

What do you think you’ll read next?

Carlousia: The Passing of the Guard by E. G. Carter

I still really want to read Bayou Moon, since I freaking love the Edge books, but I should read another review book now that I’m reading a for me book. I’m thinking Carlousia will be next, since I received it for review a few weeks ago and it looks pretty light and quick. Also, The Covenant of the Faceless Knights got put on hold for Netgalley books, but I want to finish it, so it’ll be my next Kindle book for reading while working out (because you must fit in reading time everywhere!).

What are you reading this week? Have you read any of these books? Am I crazy? (The answer is yes, always yes.)

Remember to subscribe for weekly reviews of awesome books!

What are you reading past/present/future?

    • I’m really loving the direction it’s going! And a lot of people have said that they loooooooved it! Thanks for stopping by :D

  3. Lots of great books on your list this week. I also listened to Fire on audio and thought it was fantastic! Lost Hero and Daughter of SMoke and Bone were also really good reads

    My WWW Wednesday is here.

    • Yey! Do you listen to audiobooks frequently? I’m always having trouble finding good ones, so I’d love to hear any recommendations :D

      Thanks for linking ;-) *clicks*

“Stagger books”? what is this foreign you speak? LOL! I have the same problem! Daughter of Smoke and Bone is on my to-read list, so as soon as I see it in a library, I’m picking it right up (I don’t care how many books I already have checked out, haha!) Thanks for stopping by! I can’t wait to see more from you :D

    • Haha, I know right! It always happens that as soon as I finish one book, I want to start at least two more… Library books also prove challenging since they must all be read right NAO because there is a deadline! Thanks so much for stopping by!

  5. I absolutely adore Fire and Graceling, Kristin Cashore is amazing!

  6. I’m glad you liked Fire. I loved it, but so many people didn’t because it didn’t have Katsa and Po in it.

    • Yeah, some of the Goodreads reviews were really harsh! A lot of the reviews didn’t like the attitudes towards sex and Fire being so against marriage too, which I didn’t feel was that noticeable in the story ya know… I dunno, people get angsty about all sorts of stuff! I thought it was a great story! I’m even more excited to read Graceling now :D

  7. Loving this post SO hard right now! Ok so, I’m thrilled you enjoyed Fire. I recently got Graceling and I love hearing the next books are great as well. I love audiobooks too but I haven’t listened to one in awhile so thanks for the suggestion I might just check out Fire that way!

Also your currently reading list is pretty epic! I really hope you adore DoS&B as much as I did. I’m dying to get into The Heroes of Olympus series as well but I’m debating waiting till a bit more of the books are released…patience was never my strong suit LOL. I’d never heard of Mark of the Witch before but I’m intrigued, so I’ll be looking out for your review!

Thanks so much for sharing Anya & happy reading!

    • Yey! Kristin Cashore is pretty rad as far as I can tell ;-)

At first I was confused about DoS&B since the setting seemed all contemporary, but now I’m getting into the more fantasy aspects (meeting the non-human cast for real for the first time) and I’m getting much more excited :D

Mark of the Witch is a pretty typical urban fantasy with a forbidden sexy man and magic in the “real world” that only the heroine can do, so if you are in the mood for that, go for it! But it’s not all that ground breaking so far :-/

Thanks for linking Michelle! :D *clicks*

  8. I am very much enjoying Lost Hero right now and nearly finished. Sounds like Fire should be in my CD changer for driving!

    • Yes! Fire is aaaaaaawesome! There are a couple weird things, but overall the book just has a rich feel and the narrator pulls off the character voices so well. Haha, I think we are reading Lost Hero at the same rate, I’m in the last fifth of the book :D

  9. I’m so glad you enjoyed Fire…I’ve read it a few times but now you’re seriously getting me to consider borrowing the audiobook [maybe try Audible or something] and give it a listen. I really do need to listen to more audiobooks…or any for that matter.

The only other book you’ve listed that I’ve read is Daughter of Smoke and Bone which I’ve read and loved, definitely need to pre-order the sequel…can’t believe I almost forgot about that. -.- Schoolwork is seriously messing with my mind.

    • I hear ya, schoolwork who needs it, amiright??? But yes, Fire was honestly one of the best audiobooks I’ve heard. Now, I’ve haven’t listened to a lot of them, but the narrator did a pretty freaking awesome job in my opinion :D
